About this deal

It emphasizes balance and nuance when it comes to drip coffee and espresso. It’s a lovely flavor profile. It is also quite easy and intuitive to use the dial to switch between the many grind settings on the Mini. Burr Quality – 5/5 Thanks to its minimalist design, the maintenance on the mini is simple. Once you disassemble the grinder, use a soft brush to remove old coffee grounds and run the burrs under warm water, if needed. The Comandante has smaller burrs than grinders like the 1Zpresso Jx and Lido 3, which have 48 mm burrs. Especially compared to the Jx, it seems a bit slow. The C40 took 50 seconds to grind 20 g of coffee in my testing, whereas the Jx could go through the same amount of beans in just 23 seconds.

The Porlex Mini II still comes with the durable and long lasting stainless steel body, grinds cup, lid, and handle; With the inner burr, inner burr insert with spring and outer burr, completely being redesigned with over 12 months of R&D adding upgraded materials for the interior housing. I have used the Hario Mini-Slim extensively over the last couple of years and used to see it as an attractive budget option. The revamped Skerton with the ‘pro’ moniker, sports a completely new burr design. These burrs have less wobble than the old ones due to improved construction, and as a bonus, it’s way easier to adjust the grind now. However, there is another Porlex model that you might want to consider if that describes you. The Porlex JP-30 has a 30g capacity (as opposed to 20g). While the JP-30 isn’t quite as convenient as Mini for travelers, that extra 10g of capacity will save you precious minutes if you regularly brew more than two cups of coffee at a time. If you need a grinder with a larger capacity, we tested the Hario Skerton Pro, which can hold 100 grams. However, it’s made of glass and not as portable as Porlex.

From The Manufacturer

Coffee grinders are adjustable and can produce a variety of grinds from very fine to coarse, depending on what type of brewing system you plan to use. The more expensive grinders generally have more fine-tuned grinding adjustments. However, whether you’re taking it camping, on vacation, or just generally want to enjoy great coffee away from your home, it’s well worth that jump in cost and will be one investment you’re not likely to regret. If you can’t afford the 1Zpresso Jx or have small hands and want something lighter, go with the C2 instead. It is incredibly lightweight while being strong and sturdy, offers a range of precise grind settings, and a better than a reasonable degree of consistency whichever grind you’re brewing. Even with all these advantages, it’s still tiny enough to fit in an AeroPress chamber. Although please note folks, these should only be treated as a rough guide and a starting place, everyone brews differently and they can change based on a massive number of variables. Use them as a starting place if you're not sure and then work from there, brew what's tasty for you! While this is a good idea, in theory, it doesn’t work well in daily use. The handle is on the shorter side, and the weight and shape of the grinder make itchallenging to hold it steadyon the counter. Manual grinders, in general, are very durable. Of course, it depends on each model, but as long as they are made of materials such as strong plastic (like the Hario Mini) or steel (such as the Porlex), you don’t have much to worry about.

Even for a manual grinder, this is very small. There have been improvements to the already sturdy build quality on the Mini II as well. The JavaPresse Manual Coffee Grinder can be a great option for users who do most of their brewing with the AeroPress. This is largely because the grinder actually fits within the AeroPress tube, making it super portable and great for traveling. The Lido 3 manual grinder has been popular in the specialty coffee community for a while now. It’s made by the tiny company Orphan Espresso, which mainly produces various hand grinders as well as espresso accessories. These grinders can go through thousands of pounds of coffee with no issues and should withstand a lot of abuse. They are travel-friendly

Build-quality: More plastic than other hand grinders. The aluminum feels a bit cheaper than the 1Zpresso models. It’s not something you see except when attaching the grounds jar. The sound it makes sounds slightly cheap and creaky. The K-Max is quite a bit more expensive than the popular Jx, but you get a ton of value for your money here. The Handground is based on an intriguing idea, buttoo many flawsand a high price point make it hard to recommend. Rok Hand Crank Coffee Grinder, stationary

If you want something more premium feeling and/or espresso capable, I think the Jx and Jx Pro is where it’s at. Both those models should be able to last a decade at least, while I’m not sure that goes for the C2. The cups from the grinder are sweet and have excellent clarity and texture. There’s still some way up to the models from 1Zpresso and Comandante, but overall, the cups are still awesome. The idea behind the surface is that it gives some extra grip, but it doesn’t make much difference in daily life. However, the diameter and ergonomics of the C2 are already quite comfortable, so I never experienced issues with slipping while testing the grinder. The K-Max delivers a very balanced yet sweet cup of coffee. In addition, you can comfortably push the extractions with this grinder. Like the other models from the brand, The Q2 has an aluminum unibody with no room for misalignment, while the shaft and burrs are made of stainless steel.

The machine isn’t cheap, but it still offers exceptional value for money. That’s because it stands alone as a compact grinder that offers fantastic build quality and consistent grind. Indeed, that grind quality surpasses that of many electric grinders. I took the grinder apart to have a closer look, and it appears that they have a special geometry that accounts for that aggressiveness. There’s a lot of bite to them. The interior design also helps with a rapid feeding of beans. The burr set is very sharp and aggressive. A sütik feldolgozásával kapcsolatos beleegyezését visszavonhatja. Több információ a jogairól. It should come as no surprise that the Porlex Mini has a very limited grinding capacity. With a maximum of 20g of coffee at once, you can only get about 1-3 cups of coffee per grind, depending on your preferences. The outer burr, which used to jiggle wildly on the original, causing a wide grind variation and fines that clogged filter papers, has now been stabilised with the three notches (shown below). The bean hopper still maxes out at 20g, though, so the Mini II remains strictly in single-serve territory. Conclusion: should you get the Porlex Mini II?How To Make an Espresso It's the big kahuna of our How To guides, and the basis on which to build hundreds of drinks: our Espresso How To! Updated Oct 1, 2023. Though typically sharp, high-quality burrs are found in the most expensive automatic grinders, the small but mighty Porlex Mini boasts a set of excellent ceramic burrs. Previously we have seen grinders that were either very cheap and relatively useless, or more expensive and capable. Russ at Path Less Pedaled, an online community of cyclists and outdoors-people, discussed his own use of the Porlex Mini over the past several years, concluding ( 3). Doing a v60 grind my 1zpresso is actually faster than all of them. It even beats my delonghi k79 automatic grinder. Takes around 15 to 20 seconds to grind 18grams of medium-fine.
