I’m Eli and I listen to music and this is my review for Kendrick Lamar’s third studio album, “To Pimp a Butterfly”, released in 2015. not because its bad, but because it was overrated and i didnt understand what people saw in this thing and therefore ive been hating on this album for like a year. Transcends genre and encompasses art as a concept, one of the most brilliant and breathtaking works of humanity. I like nearly all kind of genres and own more oldschool hiphop but this one belongs to my favorites now.

Though I did enjoy the hook of King Kunta, and I love Wesley’s Theory and the interludes were great. it was the second album that i listened fully, and it was an odd experience to think this simple album was top 1 on a site like rym. To Pimp a Butterfly is not just a rap album, it's a jazz and blues album, and all 3 genres of music work so well together. Like, if the audio quality is fantastic I could see getting it but I have reservations based on the horribleness of the Section. Brand new issue of this inspired and inspiring album, 'To Pimp A Butterfly' is an adventurous, challenging album, and one that can be added to your essential Hip Hop list. One of the biggest problems with more of the modern rap I've seen is its lack of variation or variety, it's just the same beats and vocals and all topics in the song seem to be sex, drugs, and gangs. I get ultimately that's not a deal breaker, it's small potatoes in the long run but damn man, that's such a simple thing not to fuck up so it sticks out. Recorded at Hive Mind Studios in Brooklyn, NY, with the help of producer/arrangers Mike Buckley and Vincent Chiarito (both members of Charles Bradley's Extraordinaires) and crack team of a-list musicians, his upcoming album blends heavy arrangements and introspective lyrics with sophistication, leaving the listener in a blissful wash of wonderment. The transition from These Walls to U, when Kendrick says "I found myself screaming in a hotel room", it cuts off before he says the M, then on the other side you actually hear him pronounce the M before the scream starts.

With us learning at the end of the album in “Mortal Man” that Kendrick Lamar had been reading out this poem to 2Pac during this interview that includes pieces of interviews he had taken before, but splicing together with Kendrick’s interview to convey that Kendrick Lamar is actually talking to the late 2Pac, and it's done rather seamlessly. One of my new favorite hiphop albums So recently, I've been getting more into hiphop music, and Kendrick Lamar being one of those rappers I really like.

Includes double Grammy winning single 'i', the Pharrell-produced anthem 'Alright', 'King Kunta' and 'The Blacker the Berry'. If you've never heard this album before you're almost committing a fucking crime, an absolute must hear for any human being with the capacity to feel emotion. Vote up content that is on-topic, within the rules/guidelines, and will likely stay relevant long-term. Every producer, musician, sample, engineer, and crew member on this thing put in their best work ever, elevating a masterpiece into a fucking historical landmark.Over its 40 years in business, PIAS has grown to be one of the largest independently-owned music groups in the world, carving out its own in-house recorded music division PIAS [Recordings].

The meaning behind the album "To Pimp a Butterfly" is how the white producers of the 60s and 70s would use black blues and jazz musicians to gain money and fame, while the musicians would go relatively unnoticed and pushed away. but I’m deducting stars because this is somehow the highest rated album on the platform and I’m not trying to contribute to that average.
