Nice House has been making waves since its first issue in 2021, and it's no surprise DC and the creative team are planning for more. She tells the story of how she first met Walter, a friend of a friend, who invited her and a small group of other close-ish acquaintances to vacation at a beautiful lake house in Wisconsin for a week during the precarious upturn of summer 2021. This is first-season Lost when anything was possible and each intriguing reveal had the internet sleuths salivating.

Nothing is as it seems in the nice house on the lake, and Tynion and Bueno have lived up to the reputation of their first volume with this continuation of the story. This was interesting to read directly after plowing through three volumes of Something is Killing… in a weekend. Maybe the biggest compliment I can give The Nice House on the Lake is that it's the type of read where you find yourself skipping back pages to see if you missed a hidden message. I'll definitely be continuing with the series because it really picked up towards the end especially but just be aware going into it that it's a genre mash-up and definitely not what you're expecting.Manipulative Bastard: Walter, who plays the group off against each other to make them stay calmly at the House. The ending appears to both wrap up the series while clearly not being the end, so I’m a little confused about whether or not this is indeed where it ends. Do cool time jumps, or leap to other cells of lab rats, introduce us to other Walters more/less sentimental than Walter-proper (and their little cells too).

So it seems like this isn’t the end of The Nice House On the Lake after all, but just the end of its first cycle. Shout-Out: In Issue 4, David is wearing Ferris Bueller's Iconic Outfit, having apparently requested it from Walter via the notepad.Batman Gambit: It's revealed in the final issue of Cycle One that the plan to make the housemates ultimately accept their situation in the house isn't Walter's at all; it's Norah's, and she devised it based on her ability to predict how the group would react to the situation, and what scenarios would lead them to a path of ultimate acceptance. He admits at one point that he did not think that he would come to like, let alone love, so many of the people he crossed paths with during his time on Earth.
