About this deal

The rumored Studio Series 86 line with characters from the classic G1 Tranformers animated movie couldn’t have started any better. In the London Escape scene from Transformers: The Last Knight, Hot Rod diverts the authorities as Bumblebee races to the Royal Navy Submarine Museum. Transformation a little bit tricky to get everything to tap in correctly so there is clearance for the wheels to move, overall a perfect transformers studio series figure to add to the 86 movie. Like WWII Bumblebee, Hot Rod also features a psuedo- Automorph gimmick: His front chest panel can be pushed up and down, retracting/extending his head as long it faces upwards.

This Hot Rod is a 1/64 non-transforming robot mode figurine, and like MetaColle figures, he was made partially out of die-cast metal. This one, on the other hand, the spoiler on the back, the flames on the chest, the pipes on the arms, it’s all here, and it’s all just…correct. This time we can share for your amazing pictures under natural light of the new Studio Series The Last Knight Deluxe Class SS-92 Crosshairs and Hot Rod. Hot Rod was revealed as a part of a sponsored Entertainment Weekly article on June 1, ahead of the Transformers team's Google Hangout later that day.

In 2021, Takara decided to go back to its old ways and launched the exclusive Premium Finish toyline, featuring rereleases of some Studio Series figures with much more movie-accurate decoes. Most egregiously, those two headlight nubs mentioned earlier don’t like to sit on the folded-up arms very well, and frequently come out of transformations looking gappy and uneven compared to the rest of the body, exposing some of the silver paint on the arms beneath them.Until now, Hoodlum was the thing that was closest, and, if we’re splitting hairs, Hoodlum was a bit too slim, had shoulders that were a bit too high up, and had a spoiler that didn’t hang quite right. Certainly, there’s also stuff like the red on the back of the boots, which are just logistical realities when it comes to needing to transform.

Subsequently, Hasbro announced the redeco of Voyager Class Starscream (based on his appearance in Revenge of the Fallen), the final figure revealed through the July 2017 leak, via their " Hasbro Pulse" Instagram account a few days before San Diego Comic-Con, even though they still hadn't officially acknowledged the existence of Ironhide by that point. Certainly, I’m a mark for a good character design above all else, and Hot Rod’s iconic look has certainly stood the test of time. The exhaust pipes towards the back of the vehicle were missing from the figure and i was disappointed.Hot Rod almost reminds me of the Takara Legends one with the amount of color on it, and that was explicitly a premium repaint with an inflated budget. This Hot Rod is a 1/64 non-transforming but screen-accurate vehicle mode based on his alternate mode seen in the film. Thus far, the figure has only been available in this packaging in mainland China and the Philippines.
