About this deal

I've seen a remote repair kit for sale which contains something that you paint on to the bottom of the buttons.

Then just move the knife around carefully, prising the front from the back until each lug pops open. I eased the board from underneath the bottom two (one at a time) and it came easily away from the top two. Having bought a replacement Remote, as the original was hit and miss after 7 years wear, the brand new replacement fails to initialise to the TV or DVD!

Of course if one earth’s themselves, (I do it by touching the bare steel frame of my PC that happens to have the cover off), then there is no problem.

I've been wanting to open it up and clean it for ages as I too had an intermittent 'OK' button that was driving us both mad but couldn't see a way to get it apart without damaging it. You're right - the it's just got a play/pause button that only sends the play code so it's a toggle. However, we do monitor messages out of hours and over the weekends/holidays and aim to get back to you within a couple of hours. Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. I've noticed that it isn't just the [Back] button that it reproduces, there is another button that brings up the N/A signal on the screen. It is easier to engage the top and bottom lugs before the side lugs are clipped as there is more give in the sides. My son has messed around with my remote, and has somehow assigned the 'back' button from the 'PVR' onto the 'TV' button.

Press and hold the 0 and OK buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until the PVR button on the remote stays red. The ‘waffle’ looking (photo 9) button contact points I cleaned thoroughly with a little Isopropanol on an old clean toothbrush. Took unit apart and gave all circuit board areas a wipe over with cotton buds dipped in after shave (closest thing I had to alcohol). You can snap the battery door back shut again as it doesn't need to be off to get the main case apart. By the way, once you get it open, you might find out that just cleaning doesn't really help the problem (sometimes it does).Only other thing I can suggest is change the code the TV button uses to something different and then back to the right one. Putting it back together is simpler, you just need to remember to assemble everything into the top plate (under the latches either end for the circuit board) and then offer up the battery springs first as you place the two halves together. Foxsat HDR remote is model RM-F01, Foxsat T2 HDR remote is model RM-F04, Foxsat HD remote is model RM-18. I ran a sharp knife around the groove to get rid of some of the accumulated dirt first and this seemed to make it easy to get the knife in. So although the remotes are labelled the same there is obviously some internal firmware difference depending on which model they were shipped with - I wonder if there is a master code that will switch from 3 to 4 digit codes?
