Its presence in high-end bars and restaurants worldwide attests to its well-regarded status in the world of spirits. The alcohol content of Patrón Silver Tequila hovers around 40% by volume, a standard strength for many distilled spirits to express a full-bodied flavor profile without overwhelming the palate with heat from the alcohol. Confirming the move, Patrón Tequila president and COO Mauricio Vergara told The Grocer the business wanted to focus “on growing and protecting production and supply of our core super and ultra-premium tequilas”.

The decision has been made to enable the Tequila brand to focus on producing its core variants: Patrón Silver, Patrón Reposado, Patrón Añejo and other super-premium and ultra-premium expressions.The liqueur is produced worldwide and can have all sorts of flavor profiles, from fruit, spices, nuts, and even cream, and has a low proof of 15 to 30% ABV. This is then brewed slowly using purified cold water to retain the most delicate notes of the coffee, befire being blended with Australian grain vodka. This maturation process imparts a rich, golden color and a flavor profile that is a delightful blend of oak, honey, and vanilla layered over the core agave and citrus notes. Patrón Silver is classified as a blanco tequila, which means it's unaged, capturing the purest essence of the agave. So, Bacardi has discontinued Patrón XO Cafe to put more time and effort into promoting its tequila, rather than the coffee-based liqueur.
