In theory, removing the OLPF altogether should result in a higher resolution than the filtered 24MP sensors found in the D5200 and D3200 can produce. Too late to edit, but I realized that the high ISO noise difference in these older tests is nowhere near as obvious as is the "new" studio scene comparison, and that's against the D5200 here, not the D5300. Its battery stamina is excellent, you can capture as much as 800 shots in single charge with Live View and Flash turned off. Most camera manufacturers use an anti-aliasing filter (AKA low-pass filter) to reduce the risk of interference patterns known as moiré patterning that can occur when an object with a fine texture that's close to the sensor's resolving limit is photographed.
