DANIEL ROMAN: You finished Night Angelquite a while ago at this point, it was your debut series and one that a lot of readers fell in love with your work through.DR: I want to back up a little to that first novel you wrote which is set 20 years in the future of this world. In our far-ranging interview, we discussed how Night Angel is evolving, the daring style choices used in Nemesis, his plans for the future of the series, how he was influenced by George R. Night Angel Nemesisis the beginning of a new trilogy set in the world of Midcyru: The Kylar Chronicles. There was like…Jack Ryan’s friend who was the badass who just didn’t care…you know, anybody could shoot Kylar and then it would just be light’s out.

Edgar Allan Poe introduced him to speculative fiction and the power of literature to transcend time and death and loneliness. She lives with them and her husband in the UK and can often be found on a beach paddling in the North Sea or stomping through a forest with the sprogs and hounds. She loves to read and has always enjoyed fantasy novels, particularly the very dark and twisty ones with mythical creatures.Fiona is a former secondary school teacher and current stay at home parent to two very wild and active children.

Although we lose the repartee between Kylar and his former master, Durzo Blint, there is a similarly enjoyable back and-forth between Kylar and his Black Ka’kari, a magical artifact that enables Kylar to be the titular Night Angel – a supernatural assassin able to judge souls and dispatch those deserving of death.

Another element that makes Night Angel Nemesisfeel different from Weeks’ other books (and from your typical fantasy novel) is that it’s a heist book. The fact that the stories set in Midcyru was billed as The Ka’Kari Codex fills me with the hope that this will become of the great vast series of the fantasy world. This week marked the release of Night Angel Nemesis, the long-awaited follow-up to the Night Angeltrilogy by Brent Weeks. Because as a reader I had felt so betrayed by trilogies that…that the first book comes out the gate and you’re like this is amazing…and then second book sort of nothing happens, and in the third book the finale is interesting but you’re like man, that was like one and a half books that I got out of there.
