About this deal

The perfect switch on a night when you're drinking regular gin and feel like a change for the last drink or two.

Some were so sweet they were almost a liqueur, while others had just a hint of citrus and remained heavy on the juniper. If you want something a little more refreshing, try using a tonic like Topo Chico or LaCroix instead. If you’re looking for an orange gin that will appeal to everyone, and that will look handsome on your drinks cabinet, this is it.I wouldn't want the grapefruit any sweeter than it is but this definitely the best summer gin we have tasted. If you’re looking for something a bit more robust, then you could try a tonic with a bit more botanical flavor, like Fentiman’s or Q Tonic. The majority of the citrus gins that we tried were lemon or orange, but pink grapefruit was also popular. The Malfy Gin and Tonic: Combine 1 1/2 ounces of Malfy gin, 3 ounces of tonic water, and a squeeze of lime in a Collins glass filled with ice.

Citrus gin was actually far more popular centuries ago, but it’s been making its way back onto our supermarket shelves recently, so much so that even supermarkets are launching their own citrus-inspired gins and no two tasted the same. Over the course of seven days, the flavour is dialled up to a whole new level, with a signature colour. It makes a great introduction to flavoured gins as it isn't too radical We also loved the packaging for gifting. The gin is distilled with grapefruit, blood orange, and pink grapefruit peel, giving it its signature pink color. It makes us think of Christmas and smells very much like a chocolate orange – the most festive kind of chocolate there is.Flor de Sevilla, Tanqueray’s Spanish-inspired gin, was the resounding winner in our tasting session. Some went to town on sugar and took inspiration from cakes and nostalgic pick ‘n’ mix (lemon drizzle and lemon sherbet were among the varieties we tried). Heat 60ml of the grapefruit juice with the sugar in a small saucepan, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. It treads a fine line between sharpness and lightness, and the result is a drinkable gin that you'll be reaching for throughout summer.

It’s great with tonic but also works in cocktails – think a twist on a spritz, or combine with sparkling wine. The MofM tasting notes above are about right with the fresh taste of grapefruit coming through strong at the beginning and then some more subtle undertones of the other botanicals coming at the end, making this gin very interesting indeed. Thanks to the rhubarb, the gin is delicate enough to drink neat – the sour pink grapefruit is balanced by the sweetness of the rhubarb, and there's even a hint of rose, though this isn't included in the list of botanicals.Made with Italian oranges from Murcia, the aroma is lively, so it was a surprise to find that the flavour wasn’t overly strong. However, we recommend trying it with orange juice, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, lime juice, tonic water, sparkling wine, or dry vermouth. Another option is to mix Malfy Gin Rosa with lemonade or sparkling water for a light, refreshing drink.
