About this deal
It just so happens that [Tom Parker] has been working on a Rubik’s cube with a novel magnetic design. The turning on this is pretty smooth even out of the box, and although it's pretty dry-feeling I haven't lubed it yet so far. Although interest in this discipline began to wane after the 1980s – it will revive again in Toronto in the early 2000s. Not to be confused with speed cubes that also include magnets that make them snap into position at the end of each quarter turn. I haven't been able to solve that particular challenge yet, but I peeled the tape off and invented a bunch of other cool things.
Magnetic VS Non-Magnetic Speed Cubes – Which Is Better? Magnetic VS Non-Magnetic Speed Cubes – Which Is Better?
Certainly, we must not neglect the logical component either, and speed and motor skills should follow the speed of your thoughts. It’s an interesting build, and a great one to get to grips with the techniques involved in embedding parts in 3D prints. On the edges, there is a bit of a strange jagged lip where the 2 body pieces meet, but it's not too big of an issue unless you look really closely. The box is nice, but there's a lot of foam in there (ever since MoYu boxes became super efficient, everything else seems wasteful) and it's a nice presentation.
The Magnetic Rubik’s Cube | Hackaday The Magnetic Rubik’s Cube | Hackaday
The final cube allows both regular Rubik’s cube movements, but also allows for the player to cheat and reassemble it without having to throw it forcefully against the wall first like the original toy. This is such a fun and wild cube that people who don't have GAN money but want GAN auto-align would be all over this thing. The puzzle does have some issues with pops and lockups where pieces come out of place and sometimes these lockups kill a solve, but generally they're pretty manageable. The cube is a bit loud and has a low-pitched, hollow sound that sounds a bit cheap, but I personally enjoy it. You can visit here, and see that magnets affect stability by their weight – acting on you so that you have a feeling of smoothness and easier rotation of the components of the cube. From the appearance of the first Rubik’s cube until today, we have come to many variations on this theme.
