About this deal
Really enjoyed seeing this side of Marrs, he is such an amazing story teller, and once again proves it to all. It can’t be more evident than this, and once again, I pat myself on the back for listening to my friends and asking for help titling my stories.
Normally 50% is when the good stuff starts happening but this book is so jam packed from page one until the-very-end! As the renovations progress, a shocking and chilling discovery is made in the form of a message that has been carved into a skirting board. The premise was a really good one, and there were numerous twists and turns along the way that kept the reader engaged despite the bleak subject matter . Darkly disturbing and with twists that just keep on coming, this is John Marrs at his best, bringing you a family very much at their worst.Mia and Finn are busy turning a derelict house into their dream home when Mia unexpectedly falls pregnant. I highly recommend this book who are already fans of John Marrs But if this is your first then please make sure you buckle up for a thrill ride and be warned this book is a great distraction from any housework you may need to do! The secret shrouds the mystery of the attic, but when fragments of a dark truth are uncovered, Mia realizes the danger is frighteningly great.
Marrs has ALWAYS been one of my favorites, but this one is nowhere near the high quality work that I’m used to getting from him.
After her traumatic discovery, the baby arrives and Mia can’t shake her fixation on the monstrous crimes happening right above them. I didn't DNF this though I considered it on several occasions so there was something here that was keeping me going even if it was only fleeting. During the reconstruction they come across a horrible, nightmarish secret that the house withholds in a hidden room in attic. I bumped this one up to the top of my reading pile as I just love John marrs books, the one and the passengers being favourites. She is prepared to do anything to protect her family—but will the previous tenants stop her from discovering their secret?
