As a rule of thumb, when nobody whose name you already know is competing, it's safe to skim the fight. Lindon and his journey was well crafted and I especially loved the 3rd party perspectives on just how much of a "monster" he became as the story went on.

I think (and hope, because I don't think any other scenario would fit what has been shown) that these robots are almost entirely defensive. That said I think once he's around people who are less awful than his current friend group he'll be more palatable. Sure, I wish there was a little more backstory on why we have to use CADs to fight the Archons, why conventional weapons don't work, but I imagine that will likely be explained in the following books, if Reidon ever goes toe-to-toe with the Archons (which I think he will, why else would the MIND do what he did?
