About this deal

It won the 2018 Best Book Awards in Parenting and Family and was also the Mom’s Choice Book award in the same year. We strongly suspect our son has ADHD but as he has not been diagnosed we cannot access help or advise.

It empowers parents to take charge of the life of their child with ADHD rather than feel constantly distressed and overwhelmed by the special needs of these unique children. This can lead them to experiment with drugs or alcohol and fall so easily into a life of addiction, unemployment, homelessness or crime. Sarah Templeton, a therapist with ADHD herself, has written this book after working with 100’s of ADHD parents from all over the UK, who have told her ‘’if only I’d known all this stuff while they were growing up’’ Well now all this information is in one place – in an easy-to-read format. Sarah is now passionate about helping teachers identify and work with these conditions in the classroom. Are you desperate for help with your ADHD children, tearing your hair out trying to understand why they don’t react or behave like other kids?It had been recommended by ADHD psychiatrists, paediatricians, parents, teachers, SEN teachers and ADHD teens. This has helped me understand my child so much better and it's empowered me as a parent that we are doing okay, that my child is doing amazing with what he has to deal with and it's also helped me feel more empowered to get the medication which we've been desperately trying to get for the last few years. It broke her heart working with so many hundreds of diagnosed/undiagnosed ADHD teenagers and young adults who were good, kind people who had simply not been medicated properly and had allowed their ADHD risk-taking and thrillseeking to get the better of them. I have written a brief overview of the books and listed some of the quotes as to why they were found to be so helpful. I have recommended Sarah a number of times to clients needing ADHD Therapy – for her ‘no nonsense’, ‘say it as it is’ approach.

Subjects covered are: making sense of your child’s symptoms; learning parent techniques to promote better behaviour from your child; strengthening your child’s academic and social skills; restoring harmony at home. Determined to reverse this situation, Sarah knows that it all starts back in the home - understanding and learning the very best ways to manage ADHD kids to bring out the best in them. It avoids all the unnecessary detailed neuroscience and focuses on what it’s actually like to live with or have ADHD.Sarah Templeton, a therapist with ADHD herself, has written this book after working with 100s of ADHD parents from all over the UK, who have told her if only Id known all this stuff while they were growing up Well now all this information is in one place in an easy-to-read format. Although aimed at parents, it has something for everyone involved with ADHD kids: teachers, psychologists, doctors, and family. The author’s heart is 100% in the right place, but overall I did not find this to be a helpful resource. We will soon be going to see a Paediatrician to get the formal diagnosis and hopefully start medication to help calm that overly busy but clever brain of his!
