Sutton sure knows how to create a jaw-dropping conclusion that leaves the reader salivating for more! Gwyn, Viessa, Lyari, Mercy, and others are all well-layered, independent females who epitomize female strength, and I love their individual roles in the story.

Her journey is a struggle to overcome the obstacles the Unseelie Court has prepared for her and gain their respect. Just a glimpse of Ian O’Connell’s face causes panic attacks, and Collith isn’t much help, considering he’s fighting demons of his own.There are so many dynamic characters in this story, and though I’m never sure who is good and who is evil, I’m intrigued by them all.

The strong imagery and vivid depiction of the characters and setting also add to the intensity of the story. PTSD, profanity, decapitation, murder, gore, sex, hallucinations, hospitalization, torture, and kidnapping. The men in Fortuna’s life are complex, secretive creatures with dark, connected pasts, and it’s fascinating to see their stories slowly unravel even if I don’t completely understand their motivations. Fortuna is one of the bewitching character types you fall in love with immediately due to her impulsiveness, wittiness, and sarcastic nature. She has received multiple awards for her work, and she graduated with a master’s degree in Creative Writing from Hamline University.

Fortuna has experienced so much heartache, and I can’t imagine how she is going to handle everything she learned toward the end of the story.

The last of her race, she’s left alone, as her parents died and her brother, Damon, disappeared under strange circumstances two years ago. Fortuna does her best to hide it from other Fallen, because in the world of monsters, strength will get you killed. This is the third book in the series and isn’t a standalone, so I recommend reading the first two books before you read this one.TRIGGER WARNING:This novel contains scenes or themes of toxic relationships, forced marriage, slavery, sex, violence, and gore. Fortuna Sworn is a must-read for those who want to cross the line between the dark and the darkest in the realm of tempting magic. Warning: there are scenes of abuse, whipping, kidnapping, and “poisonous” and destructive relationships. Its Gothic vibes transform your will to mystery into unbearable longing for a deeper immersion into the story. There are hundreds of faeries in her head, her brother seems to have lost touch with reality, and a werewolf won't leave her side. I also love the abundance of fierce and powerful women, as well as the constant introduction of new characters. Fortuna Sworn is a dark faerie romance with compelling character relationships you can truly feel developing.So Fortuna leaves her safe existence behind and descends into a world of glamorous creatures and deadly power.
