They were nice - that, I believe is the best way to describe them - and often touching, but felt very surface level and basic, often repeating sentiments akin to those on "inspirational quote" calendars. Because I’m not used to reading a lot of poems, I never know what to expect from a poetry collection when I pick them up.

Some of the poems are upbeat and jovial, while others are nostalgic and heartbreaking ones about loss. I can honestly say I truly loved some of the different types of poetry by this author, and in particular the ones in this book. The way she wrote about the love we all feel we need to find in love really had me questioning my outlook on life!
