Deadpool Remastered does a great job of capturing the madcap idiocy that defines Deadpool’s world, often allowing you options (to paraphrase the immortal words of Tommy-Lee Jones) to ‘sanction his buffoonery’ – from choosing to grope Cable’s ‘breasts’ to winning a cow on what is surely gaming’s most random appearance of Wheel Of Fortune, High Moon’s efforts capture the anarchic spirit of Deadpool perfectly. The story itself is purposefully disregarded by the Merc with a Mouth himself but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been carefully crafted; in predictably meta fashion Deadpool not only understands that he’s the star of his own video game, but he also has the script and often chooses to deviate from it wherever he sees fit, often arguing with developers High Moon as he does so. However, if you're a newcomer and you want to get hyped for next year's movie starring Ryan Reynolds, then you'll have a fun time with this PS4 version.Picking up the script for his new game, Deadpool sets out to hack, slash, shoot, and explode his way to fame, fortune, women, and all the chimichangas one man could eat. Sinister, a supervillain with a penchant for cloning, Deadpool the game is chock-full of samey-looking bad guys. Developer High Moon gets the character and brings the funny, but none of the action finesse that would make Deadpool stand out.

Written by Daniel Way, the game's story follows Deadpool as he joins forces with the X-Men and Cable to thwart Mister Sinister's latest scheme, getting into numerous comedic adventures along the way. He awakens later to find a note from Cable urging him to hurry or he'll miss an "incredibly large-breasted" fangirl. Whether it's Deadpool listening to a message from the person voicing him in the game, switching from current-generation graphics to old-school pixelated animation because he supposedly overspent the budget, or a song-and-dance number with Death while cruising down a river in a boat with rainbow-spewing dolphins swimming alongside, this is a game that always leaves you wondering what the heck you just experienced.Whether it's shooting himself when listening to boring dialogue from fellow hero Cable, slapping Wolverine repeatedly after crashing his ship, or just conversing wildly with the voices in his head, Deadpool's comedy style is intelligent, self-aware, and very funny.
