About this deal

They were a little bit naff' – How Coldplay's 'Yellow' altered the course of 21st-century rock music". And for once, all the cliches ring true because he genuinely sounds like a man picking over the bones of his life, coming up with just as many reasons to be cheerful as seriously depressed. Modified Rega P3,with RB880 tonearm,Rega Neo,Orea bronze feet(3),pro-ject turntable platform(for precise tt leveling),Goldring G1042,WHEST TWO. The album has been made available in various formats since its release: both Parlophone and Nettwerk released it as a CD in 2000, while in the next year Parachutes enjoyed a cassette release made by newfound label Capitol Records. Recorded at intervals between November 1999 and May 2000 at Matrix, Wessex, Parr Street and Rockfield Studios, except 'High Speed' recorded Summer 1999 at Orinoco.

The popularity of the songs in British clubs, pubs and sporting events led Parachutes to debut at number-one in the UK Albums Chart with 70,935 copies sold. I have this and it sounds most excellent; I liked it better than the yellow vinyl 20th anniversary copy I had.As of July 2020, Parachutes has sold 31,922 copies on cassette in UK, making it the 33rd best-selling cassette since 2000. The lower end comes across a lot better - the beginning of B3 and bass/kicks of B5 for instance sound great. Upon the release of "Trouble", Coldplay abandoned their initial plan of releasing "Don't Panic" as the album's fourth effort, since they deemed three singles were enough for an album.

The first track on Side B has one big skip that is so familiar to me that when I hear it somewhere else I'm always thrown for a loop when it plays normally. Although I haven't listened to Coldplay in years, I am still fond of this album's acoustic grounding and it's the vinyl I've likely listened to most even though I haven't spun it in probably 5 or 6 years. Its biggest sales period, however, was during the penultimate week of 2000, when the album sold 170,642 copies and surpassed one million total sales. I have an original 1st pressing from 2000 - the pressing which, on the majority of the tracks, what you are listening to are direct tape transfers - and this pressing runs it extremely close. Snow Patrol had plugged away to little avail for several years before 'Run', a grandiose lighters-in-the-air anthem in the vein of 'Yellow' [.The album was dedicated to drummer Will Champion's mother, Sara Champion, who died of cancer in May 2000, two months before the release of Parachutes. Instead it's a beautifully tender balance that comes as close to perfection as anything that's come before it.

million units sold in the United Kingdom, Parachutes is the 22nd best-selling album of the 21st century and 45th of all time in the country. Parachutes started a sequence of eight consecutive UK number one albums, which is impressive in anyone’s books. Melody Maker hailed Parachutes as a "masterpiece" and "a defining musical statement of 2000", while James Oldham of Uncut felt that the album "more than justifies the plaudits heaped upon [the band] by the weekly music press". British trade paper Music Week, praised it as one of the most-impressive debut albums ever, spawning the hit singles "Shiver", "Trouble" and "Yellow", with the latter getting included in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll" list for being one of the most successful and important recordings in music. He also commented that they look beyond: "We know that's terrible music and we always try to think about what we can do next.As of January 2018, the album remains Coldplay's third biggest in the country, behind A Rush of Blood to the Head (2. Legacy [ edit ] Coldplay still perform songs from Parachutes during their concerts, most notably "Yellow". It was also certified 3× Platinum in Australia by the Australian Recording Industry Association, [69] and 2× Platinum in Canada by the Canadian Recording Industry Association. Coldplay have also been marking two decades since the release of their debut by sharing throwback videos and images from the vaults. Champion has explained that Nelson's production style was liberating and allowed the band to feel at ease during the recording of Parachutes (many songs from the album often featured slow tempos).

Coldplay‘s debut album Parachutes is being reissued by Parlophone on limited edition yellow vinyl for its 20th anniversary.I am unsure if this pressing is the same, but my guess is that it is pressed the same, as it sounds identical and really pure to me. His full length debut on Daptone Records is equal parts raw feeling and elegance and exudes confidence and charm.
