About this deal

Hey guys, quick question: I have heard that one can strip plastic and resin very safely and reliably with isopropy alcohol. Suitable substrates include: All wood types, stone, brick, marble, concrete, plastered surfaces and many plastics. I have figures that I primed with Army Citadel primer and *nothing* was working to get the paint off. You can’t get these in the UK, the best thing you can get in the UK is Dettol, an antiseptic and disinfectant which works for me but it’s really expensive and makes a hell of a mess!

The first of which is that your results (and amount of effort you need to put in) will vary based on how the miniature was initially prepared and what type of paint is on it. It is suitable for use in the home by the DIY enthusiast and also for large industrial applications as an alternative to Methylene Chloride based products. Ideal for removing paint from most substrates including wood, metal, glass, plastic, uPVC and stone. Whether you’re looking back at models you painted a decade ago, recently acquired some second hand models, or simply changed your mind on a paint scheme, there are plenty of reasons you might want to start over. then rinse it in the water to get the IPA off and stop it breaking down the glue holding in the bristles.Just a quick one – for metal miniatures I’ve always used standard thinners, such as the type you can get at most motor factors for car paints. We have reports that Biostrip 20 works well for removing paint from resin models but only when left for short periods.

Some people just leave minis to soak in the biostrip pot itself, and let the gunk accumulate, yet it continues to work fine. The reason I decided to stop after this 6-8 hour period is that whilst stripping, I suddenly vomited into my mouth a small amount. Doesn't mean to say I was being silly with it, just that myself and the cats, didn't have to deal with the 'headache' smell, that other stuff gives off. My current pot has started to thin with about 1/4 left given it's over 3 years old now - it's more like pouring cream, but still works well.

I put a lot of effort into these to try and make them the best they can be and I regularly update them. Painting Rusty Metal Surfaces Painting rusty metal can be important not only to improve the appearance but also to stop. The last time i stripped a few rhinos and razerbacks, i just had a pippette full of iso, squirt a bit over an area , give it about 3-5 seconds, then scrub it with the tooth brush under running water in the sink.I prefer biostrip 20, a non-flammable, non-toxic virtually odourless paint stripper that strips minis significantly quicker - but as a UK product it's not always easy to get internationally and is more expensive. Two is because of all the posts I have made, the more popular ones are nothing to do with my painting (maybe I’m not as good a painter as I think I am) but they are the posts that show people the outside of the box modelling techniques, I mean seriously, my most popular post ever was how to pour paint from little bottles into different little bottles. Again, I can’t really list anything, I had a load of Microfibre Towels laying around so I use those.

If you follow the guide and leave them in for a limited time I have found that there is no impact at all on details. My latest attempt was with Isopropyl Alcohol and I can confirm what's been said so far: doesn't harm plastic, it *does* its job but requires a lot of scrubbing, it smells awfully and you don't want your skin get in touch with it for too long. Or my personal Favourite Use an airbrush face mask if you are planning on stripping models for a few hours. Will strip all types of varnish and solvent or water-based paint including tough multiple layers of old gloss paint and all types of acrylic paints. With everything I have used, I can say hands down this is the best product you can use to strip paint off miniatures by a clear margin. Ok Mat the reason your figures are comin out a bit dark is simply the old paint which is in your ISO, simple solution is to filter your iso after each session.
