About this deal

The 1000W hot air styler comes with a paddle-brush attachment for creating sleek, smooth styles, along with a 50mm brush attachment that can add volume and bounce to tresses. This tool really does serve as excellent supporting evidence to the argument that you don’t have to spend hundreds to get yourself a good hair dryer. The handle has a sliding power button, which has two heat settings, as well as a cooling setting to help set your style into place. There’s a 50mm-wide bristle brush barrel for adding volume, a paddle brush attachment for creating sleek, smooth blow drys, a conical attachment for creating curls, and a drying attachment.

The truth is that you no longer have to spend hundreds of dollars or pounds to find one of the best hair dryers to style your hair well and care for your strands, too. Quicker than blow drying with a separate brush, and cheaper than a visit to a salon, the BaByliss 4-in-1 brush is highly recommended if you want to achieve a bouncy blow-out in the comfort of your own home. Met onze Air Style 1000 Föhnborstel met meerdere opzetstukken borstel je je haar, droog je het én breng je het in model. The BaByliss Air Style is a 4-in-1 styler, with 4 interchangeable attachments that dry, smooth, curl and volumise your hair. The round brush (which I used on my hair below) is actually oval-shaped and has a mixture of firmer bristles and softer fibre bristles designed to give volume and a bouncy salon blowout. The longer sections of my hair did fall flat, so I went back in with the round brush to just add some flicks at the ends, which held up better than trying to add a full curl in. This dryer is not larger than average by any means, although today there are many smaller models on the market that lend themselves better to travel. The latter scored extra points with me as this doesn't always come as standard, and many more expensive dryers require you to purchase the compatible diffuser separately. Her work covers everything from expert skin and haircare tips to the latest product launches and the show-stopping beauty looks spotted backstage at London Fashion Week.

As for its settings, there are a standard three heat settings, two speed settings, and a cool shot to work with. It's not the most powerful hairdryer, so I wouldn't rely on it like my usual hairdryer to dry my hair from wet to dry, but it's good for rough drying hair before going in with one of the other three attachments. In the BaByliss Hydro Fusion box, you’re also presented with two attachments that add to its overall value: a narrow nozzle and a diffuser. Like other products in the Hydro-Fusion range, the 4-in-1 brush is available in just one colour option – a pleasant ice-blue colour that will suit most home decors. The heat-resistant glove proved handy here, since, after two minutes of drying, the plastic head had reached 52.

The barrel brush attachment proved more successful, with the drying and styling time coming down by 35 seconds. Similar to any heat-styling tool, the higher heat setting is suitable for thicker and more textured hair; fine hair will prefer the lower heat setting to reduce the risk of heat damage and breakage. I lightly spritzed some hairspray through my hair to finish, and this held up well for a few hours, but I did experience some of the shape falling as the day went on.

Pass the hair over the longer side of the oval to smooth the lengths, and then flip the end over the shorter side to create a bouncy curl. I think those with shoulder-length hair or shorter will benefit most from the round brush tool, and all hair lengths will benefit from the smoothing and straightening brush attachments. I sectioned my hair through the middle to make styling easier—this also allows you to get right into the root of the hair. If you want an affordable hairstyling brush tool that gives you multiple styling options on a budget, then I would highly recommend it.

There’s also a conical curling attachment in the box, and a drying nozzle that should be used to remove moisture from hair before styling. Launched in 2018, it offers the ability to dry, volumise and curl hair in a single appliance, doing away with the need to invest in separate tools.

Smoothing blow-dry brush with firm bristles creates gentle tension and control to shape and straighten hair as it dries. However, using the barrel brush attachment our decibel meter hit 80db, which is the equivalent of a waste disposal system, making it one of the loudest air stylers we’ve tested. The round brush is large, so while it is tempting to use larger sections of hair, I'd recommend using smaller sections at first to avoid any tangles, and I also found that this system created longer-lasting curls anyway. If there's a gadget that can make my long and frizzy hair easier to style in the mornings, I want to know about it. However, at 50mm wide, it's larger than the standard barrel brush we use for drying our hair, and we found it struggled to smooth our fringe, creating a clear kink half way down our bangs instead.

it's nowhere near heavy enough that it’ll give you the kind of arm ache you’d expect after a body combat class at the gym. The heat-resistant glove was a must here to protect fingers; but we found it tricky to switch from hot air to a cold shot to set the waves, which often resulted in unravelling the hair. As we’ve already mentioned, BaByliss recommends hair is 80% dry before using any of the styling attachments.
