About this deal

The colours are so vibrant, the birds are wacky and there are wonderfully weird noises to tuwit tuwoo and cockadoodledoo along with. Released about two years ago, A Busy Day for Birds is among my favorite books by Lucy Cousins (The other one being “Hooray for Fish!

This day in the life of birds will hold the attention of even the smallest bird-watchers, whether at storytime or just before settling into their cozy nests to sleep. She is best known for her books featuring Maisy Mouse but she has also published other children's books including one about Noah's Ark.This could be fun, but at the end, the reader is encouraged to cuddle with "mama in your nest," which works for children with accessible mothers and a place to sleep that feels like a nest but is not appropriate for a classroom or public library read-aloud. Besides being a mother of a lovely little book lover, Kadambari runs a storytelling program for toddlers in South Mumbai. A bouncy read-aloud book to be enjoyed; beautifully illustrated with bold, bright colours and packed with all sorts of wild and wonderful birds. The paperback would be great for kids who are a little older and can flick through the pages without ripping them.

There’s no real story to the book but just various different things birds do during one day from morning until night.

Her past experience includes working with pre-schoolers and teaching creative writing to middle graders. While the puzzle at the heart of the book is not as taxing as in the previous two, strong character development and vividly evoked Edwardian settings make Woodfine’s work stand out in a genre already notable for richness. Filled with her trademark vibrant, primitive-style illustrations, this book looks at what different birds do. Looking through the book you could point out birds that you saw and talk more about what the birds were doing in their natural environment. without stopping to think that hey, these are birds as well--with cool bird abilities and behaviors of their own.

Plus, there are also only a few words per bird, which to me means that this would also be a wonderful book for a child learning to read.

Mae fersiwn Iaith Arwyddion Prydain o’r fideo ar gael hefyd, ynghyd â fersiwn Gymraeg, sydd wedi’i haddasu a’i darllen gan Aneirin Karadog. Bob blwyddyn, mae’r BookTrust yn trefnu Wythnos Genedlaethol Dechrau Da i ddathlu holl hwyl a budd rhannu straeon, llyfrau a rhigymau â’ch plantos bach o oedran mor ifanc â phosibl – dydy hi byth yn rhy gynnar i ddechrau! This few steps may require some help from an adult – take the other ball and place the googly eyes to make a face. For this reason I doubt it would be any good as a bedtime story as the actions would get the child excited, but during the day I can just see them having so much fun. The book is about A5 in size, has smooth rounded corners and is a board book so filled with very thick card pages of very colourful images and some text.

Celia Imrie - A Busy Day For Birds - CBeebies - BBC

Definitely recommended for a fun, silly read with some pretty birds and hilarious noises to impress your children with.

Clara Vulliamy’s joyous fuzzy-furred pictures are a perfect match for these down-to-earth tales of a mischievous, haughty, trouble-prone bear cub, set in the bear pits in Berne.
