It didn’t take too long for the flames to die down, but it was a while before the heat of the coals at the bottom of the Campfire cooled. If we wanted to cook again later, it would’ve been easy to just drop some fresh fuel onto the coals and get the fire going again. Another testament to the great design and usefulness of the Campfire in the field. That’s not too bad compared to stoves like the Jetboil that have 1-quart boiling times of just over 3 minutes. But with the Campfire, you have to factor in a few minutes to prep your fuel and get the fire going. This was my first run-in with a Solo Stove Bonfire fire pit, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. Can be difficult to put out if you're ready to be done before the fire has burned out - it's best to make a fire if you have at least an hour to enjoy it!
I’ve since used Solo Stove’s cooking accessories. In particular their grill and pizza oven. Both have been fun accessories to use during gatherings and the only con of getting them is the storage space they take up when not in use. If you’re someone who loves a campfire but doesn’t want to be bound by a firepit, then you’ll love this Solo Stove Bonfire deluxe portable fire pit! Yes! If you compare it to the normal wood-burning fire pits or fire rings at a campground (the ones that are like 3 feet high) the warmth is similar if not better. I actually had to give it a little more space than I’m used to because it’s so hot! It was really nice to not see ANY damage to the grass after our fire was done (not even a wilt!)This makes me feel way more confident about using Solo Bonfire during fire season when traditional fire pits could be dangerous.

Dry fuel is king. When it comes to cooking over a fire, dry wood is essential. It’ll burn easier, faster, and hotter. That means you won’t have to wait as long for your coffee to brew in the morning. The Titan is a good size for a mini tabletop fire pit, and I expect mine will get regular use.
Once the fire builds up you can easily see that the flames come up around the side of the pot. These flames could easily melt or burn plastic insulated handles, so you want to be careful what pots you cook with on the stove. The handle will also get hot so be sure you have something to grab to the handle with without burning your hand. After years of use and testing for my Solo Stove review, I can safely say the Solo Stove fire pit doesn’t produce much smoke. You’ll enjoy a campfire without the associated coughing and eye-watering that comes with smokey fires. It’s also effortless to clean up after enjoying a fire because you’re only left with a bit of white ash at the bottom. All the stoves comes in two parts – the main stove section and a cooking ring which acts as a spacer and pot support.The cooking ring nests inside the stove for storage.To use it, flip it over and set it on top of the stove.The stove includes a storage bag which fits comfortably. For the most part, YES it creates a smokeless fire. In the beginning, when the fire’s just getting started there is a little smoke. But as soon as it heats up you can’t even see it! It’s so awesome to have a smoke-free wood-burning fire pit because we all know how it feels when the smoke seems to follow you everywhere! Can you cook on the Solo Stove Bonfire? Vent Holes – Solo Stove’s vent holes are one of the things that make it a truly unique product unlike any other fire pit. There are two sets of vent holes located at both the top and the bottom. As the combustion process uses up oxygen and hot air rises, the bottom vent holes allow air to be pulled in to fuel the base of the fire. The then pre-heated oxygen is fed through the upper vent holes to fuel the flame at the top of the fire, allowing for a hotter fire with less smoke.When the solid fuel is combusted, it gives off wood gas. (Aka…smoke and other gases. You know, the stuff that makes your eyes water.) It’s nice and shiny when you take it out of the box, but don’t be disappointed when it gets a brown patina after you first use it. Don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong with it. That’s just part of using it. My husband, however, entered the experience dubiously. He is stubbornly frugal and likes doing things the old-fashioned way. Inside of the Solo Stove Campfire body is an integrated steel mesh. The mesh allows ash to fall through to the bottom of the body preventing it from impeding airflow to the fire. What the Solo Stove Campfire is super famous for is its patented double-wall construction. It creates an airflow between the walls of the stove. This airflow, combined with the unique design of the bottom vents, creates secondary combustion. which results in a more efficient burn (so there’s very little smoke when burning at full capacity) and less ash and soot.
As it turns out, Solo Stove fire pits are pretty expensive. Still, I decided it was time to spring for one. Firestarters make your life waaaaaay easier. Get some natural fire-starting nuggets and you can go straight from match to burning twigs without having to worry about tinder and small kindling. After feeding the Campfire all of the pinecones, twigs, and leaves we could find we finally let the fire burn itself out. Don’t worry, I’ll answer all those and more. But first lets take a look at a few of the Solo Stove Campfire’s features to see how it compares to some other camp stoves. Solo Stove CAMPFIRE FeaturesWe started our fire with some pine needles and dry moss, so there was some initial smoke for about 2 minutes, but then it was gone! This made our whole camp experience WAY easier because my kids are young and at the age where they get super affected by smoke. I almost always have at least one kid squinting their eyes as hard as they can and screaming for me because of the smoke, but with our Solo Stove, there’s less smoke so that issue never happened!
