So because I’m obsessed with perfumes, I did the very hard work of going through all of my fragrances (all 89 of them—for real) to compile a full list of the absolute best vanilla perfumes I’ve ever tested. I found summer scents, cheap perfumes, new perfumes, and long-lasting fragrances that all have a vanilla note—and not all of them are sweet, tbh! Peep all of my faves here: Inspired by the laboratories of the past and alchemy, the fragrance is a blended of high quality ingredients that radiate strength and sensuality. The scent is of floral, oriental and chypre character, signed by Christine Nagel. The recipe is as follows: Now about the longevity and sillage. On my skin this lasts easily 10h+ but it isn't a sillage monster. Why? Because Potion isn't supposed to be - and it possibly couldn't be one. All fragrances that are notable for their projection have a strong opening and even stronger heartnotes: Joop! Homme has it's screechy nose-burning cinnamon, Angel got it's spicy patchouly and Fahrenheit goes up into heavens with massive gasoline! Potion on the other bottle goes straight to drydown and it doesn't radiate with great energy do you hear the faint saxophone echoing through the streets? The dim orange lights of an old jazz club shine through the small, street level windows. I mean this stuff is just arcane.

DSquared2 Potion is the second men's fragrance (not counting the limited editions) of the Canadian designer duo Dean and Dan Caten or DSquared2. In collaboration with the Italian company ITF, they launched their first men's fragrance He Wood in 2007, followed by the female version She Wood in 2008. I don't get any from the top notes - like the scent is going straight to its heart to reveal everything best it has. what sets this apart is I guess the cashmere wood mixing very well with the amber to give off this intoxicating scent.the woody scent here is reminiscent of ones you get in comme des garcons fragrance and am thinking 2 Man here which am told is a rip off of GPH. In both cases they are perfectly balanced, dominated by cinnamon, pepper, amber, wood, and then some mint. And, yes maybe a touch of rose. On my skin the patcholi gets more noticeble at the dry down. Spicy-woody on the fresh side, and has character at the same time. Almost alluring. I can see this as a versatile and a very safe scent. But definitely not safe in the boring way :) I've yet to wear it in warmer weathers but I think a light application would work, but I'll be wearing other scents over this around that time of year.Potion is wearable easy to like and a nice not costly choice for fall& cooler spring nights and even winter days but it's not really memorable..it can be used everywhere and by both mom's & girls..it's stays for about 4hours on my skin(much longer on clothes)and sillage is good when first applied but in about ten minutes reduces to moderate and then soft to moderate.it's versatile and easy to wear and can be a safe gift for alot of people. I see it as a good choice for someone who has always used simple pink fruity florals and now whats to step a bit further and get to know more complex,sexier fragrances without facing much difficulty in adapting Potion is available as 30, 50 and 100 Eau de Parfum with the extension line (“the quintessence of the fragrance”) of aftershave lotion spray, hair and body wash, body lotion, natural spray and alcohol free deodorant and perfume oil. for those who dont like this am not sure what else will please you.I am more than OK with the scent-sillage and longevity are good to me.It is clearly an evening,cold or cool weather scent.it will not work on a scorching day:you'll be choking yourself. The projection is subtle to moderate, just a bit stronger for the Edp, but the scents are definiately noticeble and as mentioned before heat activated in both cases. Longevity: I applied them at 5.30 PM. At 12.30 AM the next day I could surprisingly still get the Edp close to skin/1 inch while the Edt was gone. Bottle is great, definitely not cheap feeling, has a very strong, heavy lid, and the bottle is very nice.

This fragrance i tried some years ago and found it very ugly. Now... after my nose developed a lot more then i expected i can finaly give this fragrace it's right. This almost feels more like an accord than an actual fleshed-out scent to me. It smells like listening to music with a low pass filter, like all the brightness and higher pitched sounds are muffled out with warm fleece blankets, or like listening to drums with earplugs in; you feel the sound more than you hear it. All the sharp edges of the notes in here are completely smoothed over. There's a puff of cinnamon but its definitely not the spicy red hots variety; This cinnamon has been gently steeped in a glass of warm milk. Theres the faintest little snippet of patchouli, but its the friendliest and absolute most agreeable iteration possible and its used so subtly that you could completely miss it if you weren't looking. Ultimately the cashmere wood seems to be the predominant player here, and it's beige-y fuzziness dominates 99% of the wear time. Do you want a perfume that smells strictly of vanilla or has a faint whisper of sweetness from a vanilla note? If the vanilla notes in your perfume are in the foundation with eight other base notes, it likely won’t have that strong of a vanilla scent. But on the other hand, if you want to really smell the vanilla, look for a perfume with only a few other notes throughout, one that only includes one or two other base notes, or that includes vanilla in the middle or opening. You can also look for a vanilla perfume that combines a few types of vanilla, like vanilla orchid or vanilla bourbon. Decide on the type I put this on in the morning at 8:30. Later in the day (at 2:30) I sprayed Aramis over it, and yet 6 hours later as I write this, there is still a noticeable cinnamon smell upon myself, so it's been far from drowned out by the strong Aramis (which is strong!). I had the same experience wearing Kouros in the afternoon after applying Potion in the morning.Potion by Dsquared2 is an echo of intimacy and sensuality.Probably one of the best release in the last year. A nice blend from top to bottom of sweetness and woods, this fragrance finally breaks away from the overdone aquatics and sports fragrances pushed onto the average consumer from the retail counter. This scent is as unique as it is versatile, posing no challenge for wear at work or for a night out. You might also find its linearity a plus or a minus.
