Connect the unit and iPod /iPhone with the attached iPod cable and Apple Lightning - 30 pin adapter. This KENWOOD unit comes equipped with built-in Bluetooth technology to enable hands-free calling allowing you to make and receive calls. Music streaming to play music, podcasts, or any other audio content from your smartphone and all this without physically holding your phone. The unit support voice commands, allowing you to perform actions without touching your phone. You can initiate calls, play music or perform other tasks just by speaking voice commands and keeping your hands on the steering wheel where they belong and concentrate on the road ahead. The key selling point of the Kenwood DMX8020DABS is its Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. If you haven't used these before, they're brilliant – just connect your phone (via Bluetooth or old-fashioned USB) and you can access all your favourite apps on the move. Or some of them, at least (Spotify, Google Maps and Waze to name a few). We'd go as far as saying Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are must-have features on a new car, but now numerous big-name aftermarket audio firms provide compatible devices of some description. We tested Sony's option a few years ago and, while Kenwood's isn't a like-for-like alternative (technology moves fast and that review's now three years old), it is more advanced. This model also offers USB Mirroring for Android phones enabling the whole phone handsets screen to be replicated on the 6.8” screen – ideal for entertainment from games to movies in your dashboard. Best of all, it will bring your car bang up to date with access to the very latest in smartphone connectivity. Which is the smartest choice to go with your phone? How we tested them USB Mirroring for Android, displays & control your Android phone on the large touch screen of this KENWOOD receiver with impressive sound. Including convenient 2-way touch control capability. In the box, you'll find the stereo itself, as well as a wiring loom to connect to your car (you'll probably need an adapter as well). There's a microphone (for handsfree calls), a USB extension (for connecting your phone) and a GPS antenna for using Google Maps. The 13 band EQ and digital sound processor allows you to fine tune your music to get the best from your speakers and cabin acoustics, it even has digital time alignment so you can get the setup just perfect.
