Proof66.com Summary of Gold Label Awards". Archived from the original on 6 October 2012 . Retrieved 16 October 2012. Martin said in 2012 that readers will see more of the Others in his forthcoming novel The Winds of Winter. [16] He noted in a 2012 Dose interview, "[We'll learn more about their] history, certainly, but I don't know about culture ... I don't know if they have a culture". [11] TV adaptation [ edit ] White Walker whisky White Walkers are humanoid creatures from the HBO television series Game of Thrones, and the George R. R. Martin novel series A Song of Ice and Fire on which it is based. Primarily referred to as the Others in the novels, White Walkers are a supernatural threat to mankind who dwell north of The Wall in Westeros. [1] [2] The Verge named them among "the most visually iconic creatures on the show". [3] White Walkers are also featured in the show's merchandising. The brand became popular, but after Walker's death it was his son Alexander ‘Alec’ Walker and grandson Alexander Walker II who were largely responsible for establishing the whisky as a favoured brand. The Spirits Act 1860 legalised the blending of grain whiskies with malt whiskies and ushered in the modern era of blended Scotch whisky. [7] [4] Blended Scotch whisky, lighter and sweeter in character, was more accessible, and much more marketable to a wider audience. Andrew Usher of Edinburgh, was the first to produce a blended whisky, but the Walkers followed in due course. [8]

Once forgotten and reduced to ancient legend, White Walkers have emerged from the frozen north, bringing with them the chill of winter and the promise of terror and destruction to all who stand in their path. With their tall blades of ice capable of slicing through iron and their silent, icy blue glaze, they are a chilling sight. When you see the undead coming, you know Winter Is Here. Chill filtration is normally an unnecessary intrusion on the flavor of one’s whiskey as it removes flavor compounds, but I can see why it would be deemed essential in this case since this whisky is pulled from the freezer. At cold temperatures whiskey that has not undergone chill filtration will become cloudy. When this happens, the whiskey is still the same as before, but some folks find it unsightly and therefore some distilleries undertake the process purely for cosmetic reasons.

The Story

Rense, Sarah (27 August 2019). "Johnnie Walker's New 'Game of Thrones' Scotch Will You Remind You How Mad the Finale Made You". Esquire. For most of its history Johnnie Walker only offered a few blends. Since the turn of the century, there has been a spate of special and limited bottlings. By 1925, John Walker & Sons was amalgamated into Distillers Company Limited (which later became Diageo), and the company was granted a Royal Warrant in 1934.

White Walker has notes of caramelized sugar and vanilla, fresh red berries with a touch of orchard fruit and is best served directly from the freezer, echoing the chilling presence of the White Walkers. Utilizing temperature-sensitive ink technology, the enigmatic message “Winter is Here” is revealed on the bottle when frozen.

I like whiskey. I like Game of Thrones. I sometimes like Johnnie Walker. That was enough for me to decide to give the Johnnie Walker“White Walker” Limited Edition Scotch a try. As a fan of both Johnnie Walker and Game of Thrones, I figured why not give the limited edition whisky a review. I doubt the bottle will be as good as the show, but maybe it’ll have a better finish. The thermochromic ink changes the look of the entire bottle once below freezing. The ink on the bottle reacts to the cold temperature and reveals that “Winter is Here” on one side. Adorning the label of this limited release Johnnie Walker is Diageo’s depiction of the Night King (supreme leader of the White Walkers), whose eyes glow blue when the whisky is ready to be pulled from the freezer. This is a really neat effect I have never seen on a bottle before but considering both the nose and palate prefer room temperature for tasting it does make one skeptical up front. Nonetheless it is intriguing enough to try, especially if you enjoy “Game of Thrones.” Scotch Whisky Brand Champion 2017: Glenfiddich". thespiritsbusiness.com. 11 June 2017 . Tasting Notes

Oh, and feel free to skip the ice. (There’s some kind of label effect if you freeze the bottle, but frankly that sounds heretical to do with such an interesting dram. I’d rather the dragons got it.) Green Label: First introduced in 1997 as Johnnie Walker Pure Malt 15 Year Old, [19] it was renamed Johnnie Walker Green Label in 2004. Green Label is a blended malt whisky, meaning it is made by mixing single malts with no grain whisky added. [36] All whiskies used are a minimum of 15 years old. [37] [38] [39] Diageo discontinued Green Label globally in 2012 (except for Taiwan, where demand for blended malts is very strong), as part of a reconstruction of the range that saw the introduction of Gold Label Reserve and Platinum Label. The brand was reintroduced in 2016 and is again globally available. [40] Eats, Serious. "What Is the Difference Between Single Malt and Blended Whisky?". drinks.seriouseats.com .
