About this deal

Complexity: It never hurts to challenge a child, but when it’s something that’s supposed to be fun, you don’t want the difficulty level to spoil the game. Depending on your child’s age and development, you may want to choose a game that doesn’t have too many rules, or where the rules are easy to follow. It’s also worth considering whether they will do better with fast-paced games or slow, methodical games. For example, for a lesson on Tithing and Fast Offerings, I wrote down the following 4 words and phrases on separate index cards. To make it a little more competitive, you can also have a timer and give each person 1-minute to ask their YES or NO questions. If in that time they have not guessed correctly what is on their card, the next person then gets a 1-minute turn. Continue on with each person taking 1 minute until someone guesses their card correctly.

The box includes 16 suspect cards, 16 thief cards, 12 clue markers, four detective pawns, three custom dice, one fox figure, one evidence scanner, the game board and a rule sheet. Some pieces can be a choking hazard for very young children, so it’s not suitable for children under three. Without looking at the picture side of the card, players insert their card into the clip of their headband so all the other players can see the picture. Who Can Play It: Suitable for everyone 7 and older. Vary the topics depending on who’s playing to adjust the difficulty. On your turn, flip over the timer and ask each of the other players a question that will help you identify the picture on your head. The “official” game has 60-second rounds but you can make your rounds however short or long you want, as long as they are the same for both players/teams. The question cards show sample questions that you could ask to help you figure out what you are. These questions are only a guide; you don't have to ask them if you don't want to. You can use any question except, "What am I? " At any point you may ask, "Am I a...?"

If you want, you can play until one player reaches a certain score (e.g. 25 points). More Family Fun You may need to help younger players place the card into the slot on their headband, especially if they are tempted to peek at the card. I hope you have as much fun playing these forehead games as my family does! They are such fun and easy games, that just happen to improve deductive reasoning and communication skills at the same time. The object of the game is to guess what the word or phrase is on each card. If you are using it to introduce the lesson’s topic, use words or phrases that relate to the topic. To achieve this in your homemade game, you just need a way to hold the clue cards on each player’s forehead. Since we have four females in our home, we had a ready supply of elastic headbands on hand so that’s what we use. If you guess the picture before the timer runs out, take another card and put it on your headband (remember not to peek). Continue asking questions until the timer runs out. For each picture you guess correctly, put one of your chips in the bank. Then it becomes the next player's turn.
