About this deal

Corvina grabbed the handle on the side to keep from falling. The first time she had gotten inside a car, claustrophobia had assaulted her. She had always gone to town on foot with her mother. She had seen cars, but she’d never been inside one, not until the day they came for her and put her in one. She’d thankfully found the claustrophobia manageable as long as air from outside kept circulating. Constantly calling her his “little crow” ….like boy you are SO creepy and your “single grey streak” … you will never be stacy london So, naturally, the most logical thing for him would be to stare at his new female victim (oops did I just say victim instead of student 👁️👁️) in the class/in the halls/ (insert any public space of the said academy) as if she were an oasis in his personal desert. 🤡 Let the whole world wait and see while he fantasises about his student during his working hours:D imo i think the romance isn’t the main factor of this book. yes, there’s loads of tension between the two main characters, yes, there’s loads of sex but the atmosphere of this book is incredible. my review won’t do this book enough justice. the gothic vibe, the witchy involvement, the supernatural, the character development and the plots were so well written. this book is truly a masterpiece. i haven’t read a book like this before and i hope i’ll find some more 🤞🏼

The atmosphere captivated me from the word go. A secluded castle on a mountain surrounded by forest and cliff edges, filled with bright individuals all dealt a bad hand in life, what could possibly go wrong? Are the stories just that? Spooky tales passed in whispers as a way to keep students out of the woods. Or is there any truth behind the voices Corvina can hear begging for help? Book Genre: Academic, Adult, College, Dark, Fantasy, Gothic, Mystery, New Adult, Paranormal, Paranormal Romance, Romance In bare bones, I think this is probably fairly engaging? And it’s willing to go some pretty dark places—it’s just I’m sure how equipped it is to handle those places, having gone there. For example, there’s a sort of on-going thread regarding Covina’s mother’s mental health, and whether Covina herself is suffering from the same illness or legitimately supernaturally attuned. And where that takes us ultimately is here: Upon starting, her roommate Jade shows her the ropes off the place and soon the mystery and horror of the castle reach her ears as Corvina finds out that over the last century people have gone missing, most recently her roommate Jade's friend Alyssa who disappeared after hooking up with her professor, her body along with the others never to be found, happening on a special night of the universities ball. Ugh I am so mad rn because I wanted answers and I need them. A LOT OF THEM. If you want to read this book and expect to get answer about what happened then do not read this because you do not get them.this book made me miss tristan's silent ass 😭😭 i complained in my predator review about how tristan needs to up his dirty talk game (my precious boy was straight up mute lmao), but vad was the other end of the extreme in that he would not stfu 😩 he was doin too much I LOVED the uncertainty that the voices in Corvina's head were real or part of a mental health condition. We still don't really know in the end, but since Corvina truly gives off witchy vibes, I like to believe she's connected to the paranormal. I also lean more toward this because of the old woman's prediction about Vad meeting the girl with purple eyes. I was so excited about this. The plot seemed great and the description of the castle was really nice and I wanted to get fully immersed in the story. He has worked at the university for a long time, even attending school there when he was young, and is thus equipped with everything there is to know about Verenmore. Nothing that happens on mountain escapes from his knowledge.

This is the part of my review where I would normally start gushing over the characters and discussing the plot. However, I realized that everything else I have to say could possibly spoil something or take away from the overall experience of the story. Believe me, you don't want that! You owe it to yourself to experience this book in the way it was intended, and Vad and Corvina deserve no less!I don’t know what it is about older men; the seductive masculine vibes they give just does it for me. If I imagined half of the things Vad says in this book, come out of some “bad-boy” in a bully romance, I would’ve DNF’ed it. RuNyx immerses her readers in the dark worlds she builds and then injects life into them in the most hauntingly beautiful way. Her work is unique and addictive—she really is one of a kind.” ―Hannah Grace New York Times bestselling author of Icebreaker I'm obsessed, it kept me on my toes with the little twists and turns, and my jaw was on the damn floor with that plot twist. I truly loved the relationship between vad and her, it was so intriguing! You couldn’t help but love the guy even knowing you shouldn’t, and he was always there, watching her and keeping her safe... entirely in love!

Her mama didn’t talk much but she did hear voices, voices that told her things. They told her to not talk to people, to homeschool Corvina after that incident at the school, to keep her away from everyone. Her mama told her she couldn’t wander or they would take her away. She couldn’t leave her side in town or they would take her away. She couldn’t talk to anyone or they would take her away. Little Corvina had heard all the rumors, but she knew they were untrue. Her mother wasn’t a witch or a freak. Her mother was her mother. She just didn’t like people. Corvina didn’t like people either, but then most people in town weren’t very likable. I tried to read The Predator before and couldn't because the writing was bad. This wasn't the case in this one. I thought the writing was much better and it flowed nicely, even though some sentences were still stilted and a bit juvenile. Kudos for the improvement though!Vad blushed furiously, his seven-year-old self getting mad at Old Zelda for cornering him like that and saying weird stuff about him his friends made fun of. An outcast all her life, Corvina Clemm is helpless after the loss of her mother. When she receives the acceptance letter from the mysterious University of Verenmore, she accepts it as a sign from the universe. However, the last thing that awaits them is an ancient and isolated castle on a mountain riddled with mystery, deceit and death. Ever since I was a kid and the first time I finally got my hands on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, books such as Gothikana have been one of my very favorite things. And with the legends and old wives tales abounding this is giving me everything I could possibly want. Before coming to the castle Corvina (ugh, that name) is home schooled by a schizophrenic recluse (her mother) and so well adjusted she makes me look like a psycho. Hell, she makes your sweet grandmother seem like one. Sure, she hears voices, but nobody knows and aside from that she seems like just a normal girl with a weird fashion sense and shudders violet eyes. (again, really?????)

They shouldn't have caught each other's eye. They cannot be. But a chill-inducing century-old mystery forces them to collide. People have disappeared every five years for over a hundred years, and Corvina is getting clues to unraveling it all, and Vad needs to keep an eye on her. Corvina or Vivi is such an amazing character. She is unique and accepts her uniqueness. She is who she is and she would not lower her standards because some may find her odd. Her journey with fear and mental heath is very interesting. She is not a damsel in distress, she is a badass who will fight for herself. I don't know what I expected from this book exactly, but it definitely wasn't a Zodiac Academy rip-off, which, ironically, manages to sound even more juvenile than the OG series does.As she learns more about Verenmore's history she encounters the silver eyes and hair of Vad Deverall, the man that is her literature professor who has a dark reputation, and they embark on a secret and forbidden relationship. Spine-tingling, atmospheric, sexy, and macabre, Gothikana is gothic romance and dark academia in its finest form." — Jessica, Chatterbooks Book Blog
