The DeWalt DWS780 ( read my review) is a similar 12-inch miter saw that has a precise miter system due to the XPS crosscut positioning system for improved accuracy. It also has a 15-amp motor that runs at 3,800 RPM. Similar to the 12-inch Bosch tool I mentioned earlier, this model also has a great dust collection system. While they do have their similarities, these two miters saws also have unique differences that make them stand out from each other, such as the following: Blade Size There are lots of miter saws available in the market, but I knew which one I had to get. I noticed that the Bosch GCM12SD Miter Saw comes with an axial glide system. This patented technology allows wider cross-cuts with better alignment without making the saw bulky. While weight is less of a concern with miter saws because they are meant to be stationary, if you intend to move the tool from room to room, that’s when weight becomes a problem. A weight of 60 to 65 pounds is common for standard miter saws so if you are looking for more stability rather than portability, this shouldn’t be a problem. Dual compound sliding miter saw: You’ll get all the features found in a sliding and compound miter saw, including beveling to the left and right. Aside from its bigger blade and cutting capacity compared to most miter saws, its axial glide system will also save time, space, and effort due to the ease of sliding and adjusting while consuming minimal footprint on your work area. If you want a miter saw from the same manufacturer, a similar tool would be the Bosch CM10GD ( read my review and comparison) , although this one only has a 10-inch blade. Regardless, all the features from the Bosch GCM12SD are found on this compact miter saw except for a similar blade size. If you feel very comfortable with the axial glide system, this is a good alternative if you only need to work with smaller projects. Summary They are equipped with detents at common angles and easily accessible upfront controls. The miter saw also comes with a push-button miter detent override. Its easily accessible thumb actuated control ensures fine adjustment of the miter angle. But when the power miter saw came along in 1964, the tool revolutionized the way carpenters worked with wood.
