About this deal

The Film Vault, as mentioned above, is licensing their releases from Warner Brothers and Universal. For anyone needing a recap of the labyrinthine

To Be Human: Casting Blade Runner 2049 (HD 17:15) This is an interesting look at not just the casting of the major players but the numerous small roles that had recognizable actors but featured in small important ways. Here’s a deep cut that even the most ardent "Blade Runner" fan may not be aware of. Before "Blade Runner 2049" hit cinemas, three short prequel films were made to promote its release, each taking place during a different year and plugging the gaps in what happened in the intervening years since the original’s story took place. The original cut of Blade Runner is not currently available for subscription streaming in the U.S., though it can be bought and rented. Editor’s Note: Portions of this review are excerpted from my longer review of the original Blade Runner: The Final Cut Blu-ray release from 2007 – you can read that here. Note that the Final Cut images below are photographs of the new 4K UHD presentation, projected with HDR. Don’t use them to judge color; it’s incredibly difficult to get color to reproduce accurately via a cellphone camera.] Dialogue is centred for the most part, but can move round to other speakers to good effect. Atmos is well utilised in this aspect too, projecting disembodied voices with authority such as K's intimidating baseline test. Now bear with me, please, because here's where the story gets even more twisted. Consistent with the putative focus on the Commentary by Executive Producer / Co-Screenwriter Hampton Fancher, Co-Screenwriter David Peoples, Producer Michael Deeley and Audio Commentary with ‘Technical Crew’ including Lawrence G. Paull, David Snyder, Syd Mead, Douglas Trumbull, Richard Yuricich and David Dryer.

Blade Runner is on UK 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray as a standalone 4K release and as part of the Warner Bros. 100th Anniversary Studio Collection from 16th October 2023.

Literally, the only new bonus feature to be had in the entire set is a new 4K trailer. That's it. Everything else was unfortunately recycled from the 2007 release. To that point, this isn't a complete set of bonus features and unfortunately is short sighted in that it doesn't do any pre-release promotion of the upcoming Blade Runner 2049. This would have been the perfect opportunity for some sort of behind the scenes retrospective with cast and crew interviews or even one of the new film's many trailers. celebrated career, 1982's Blade Runner, albeit in its "new, improved" Final Cut from circa 2007. This is a film that seems rather eerily
