About this deal

Considering the price, we have expected some nice additional equipment but you will have to buy all the accessories and equipment separately. Aiwa offers a carrying bag for Exos-9 and a r e mote . You can also buy the extended battery (it doubles the playtime) if you want. Specs Aiwa Exos-9 Specifications Sound quality is probably the best thing about Aiwa Exos-9. If you are searching for a balanced and loud sound, and you want a battery-operated Bluetooth speaker, then Exos-9 is one of the best choices.

Ultimate Ears have earned a reputation for designing some of the most trendy-looking portable Bluetooth speakers on the market. The UE MEGABOOM 3 is one of the company’s best-selling speakers because of its compact size and surprisingly big sound. Audio Connections Bose SoundTouch 30 and Exos-9 have similar design and size (but SoundTouch 30 is much heavier). They both support Bluetooth wireless streaming and that’s about it when it comes to similarities. The sensitivity rating tells us how loud it will play with a certain amount of wattage. Remember that every additional 3 dB of volume requires double the power. Even with its compact size, the Soundcore Rave Mini delivers an impressive 80W of power output. The speaker includes 2 x 5.25-inch woofers, 2 x 2-inch tweeters, and a single passive bass radiator for optimum bass performance. The speaker is surprisingly loud for its size, and the sound quality is better than most other Anker speakers.

Works well at home, not when it’s away

Nevertheless, the speaker “Exos-9” is to be understood as an homage to the best Aiwa times. For us, this is reason enough to take a close look at the device, which was released in 2015 and is currently on the upswing again. Design and Workmanship

There are few, if any, portable Bluetooth speakers like the Aiwa Exos-9 that boast 5 active speaker drivers and have 200 Watts of continuous power (not just peak) to those drivers. Most top out at 40 watts. Aiwa Exos-9 is a battery-operated speaker. The battery is not built into the speaker and it can be removed and replaced. Unlike the smaller models in this series, the PartyBox 1000 does not feature a built-in battery. This speaker requires a power outlet to work, something that’s important to consider when purchasing a speaker. Features Portability – Keep in mind that smaller is not always better. A very light and small speaker is portable. The downside is the sound quality will suffer. More than 10 lbs is already heavy. Don’t choose a product that is more than 15 lbs. Size help because you need space to house all the sound components that produce a loud sound. So, What’s Inside?A handy timesaving feature is the Exos-9 remembers the last eight devices paired, and automatically connects when in range and powered on. Don’t want Bluetooth or NFC? And it won’t matter what sort of music you want to play. It’ll provide the loud yet balanced sound you want for any genre: You can use the standard USB port to charge your phone which is convenient when you’re outside. And you can do this even while streaming music. But it’s a single use USB port only. You can’t use it as a digital-in port. The sound signature of both speakers is very similar but you can make EQ adjustments with Exos-9 while you can’t do that with deepblue3.

When it comes to overall sound quality, the Aiwa Exos-9 stands out from some of the other loudest Bluetooth speaker options. The bass has a nice weight and definition, while the mids and highs deliver excellent clarity. This means the Exos-9 will sound great with most genres of music and is even great for talk radio or podcasts. Build Quality Sound – Surround sound is a great feature. Look at the wattage and choose something that is 200 watts or above for a more powerful sound. The sound of the Aiwa Exos-9 is powerful and very clear. Five integrated loudspeakers, including a 6.5-inch subwoofer with an output of 200 watts, ensure this. With the help of the equalizer, it was possible to adapt the AUX mode to one’s own wishes to a great extent. Everything is possible with the Exos-9, from balanced to bass-heavy to high-frequency sound. We were very satisfied with that. We noticed particularly positively that the settings are consistently maintained even at high volumes – even bass-stressed sound is still perfectly reproduced at high volumes. Conclusion So among other things, decibels are used to measure voltage and power in your gear – the intensity of a sound or the power level of an electrical signal, by comparing it with a given level on a logarithmic scale – which we talked about earlier in this article.

Big sound for those who need the extra volume

Wondering how much of a dB increase you will get if you double the power? As mentioned earlier in this article, the power of a speaker will be mentioned as a wattage rating, which tells us the strength of its amplification. The bass is deep and warm yet can be ramped up to a punchier and booming sound. The mids are full, not muddy and the highs clear and crisp, never shrill or piercing. If your device supports NFC pairing, touch it to the NFC icon in the circle on the top of the device, just to the right of the touch screen. Once again, you’re connected. Remember though. You won’t be able to use this approach with any Apple device. Another positive feature is the possibility to link two Aiwa Exos-9s together to enjoy stereo sound. But we couldn’t test this because we only had one unit. Sound The number of drivers provides a range of sound that allows the Exos-9 to reproduce almost any type of music with clarity and no loss of quality. You get to hear every instrument and the different voices, it might struggle to play classical music at its best, but most folks will not be buying the Exos-9 for that reason. Getting Your Sound Right

The new Aiwa company adopted the old-school boombox design. Maybe they wanted to pay their respects to famous Aiwa boomboxes or to match this well-known name with a well-known design and make the product recognizable. They also managed to modernize this retro design and make it more visually appealing to new generations.

🍪 Privacy & Transparency

Along the top of the front is a panel. Between the Aiwa logo on the left and a large silver knob on the right is the LCD that shows the equalizer (EQ) band you’re using as well as information like battery life and if the speaker is charging. On the Top and Sides Something interesting to note is that a decibel in itself does not tell us anything unless you assign it to something – such as SPL (Sound Pressure Level). We are so used to using decibels as a measurement of sound or music loudness that we would assume that that’s what dB stands for, but the decibel actually needs to be assigned to a unit to mean anything. Interesting, right? The manufacturers usually advertise the playtime without offering any info about the volume at which the playtime was measured. Aiwa was more honest than other manufacturers – they claim that you can get up to 10 hours at 85dB (but it’s really hard to tell what is 85dB since the volume level is not displayed on the LCD screen). We have managed to get 9 hours at 50% volume but only 3-4 hours at full volume. The battery life and playtime depend on the volume but also on the type of music (bass heavy music means more subwoofer movement which further means shorter playtime). Often loud Bluetooth speakers deliver a lot of noise but low quality. That’s not the case with the SOUNDBOKS. This speaker sounds great at low and high volumes. The bass is nice and punchy, perfect for urban and dance genres. Portability The EQ controls have left and right arrows to select an EQ band or one of the four preset bands. The up and down arrows will adjust the gain the EQ band selected.
