Caroline said: “The butter brand range reviewed was significant in scale and included smaller producers such as ourselves, international brands and supermarket own-branded dairy butter and plant-based spreads.

The world’s first zero-abv distilled spirit, Seedlip was inspired by a book of 17th-century herbal remedies. The different botanical expressions should appeal to lovers of spicy, citrus or herbal gins. Clove-laced Spice 94 was the first launch, followed by Garden 108 and lemony Grove 42. Garden, with its notes of thyme, sage and pea pods, gives a fresh, herbal-edged drink with a crisp finish perfect for summer sipping. Alc 0% The wrap will simply go in with customers vegetable or garden waste and compost down with access to moisture & air, ultimately becoming soil after passing through a friendly worm!” It is still cut with a cheese wire and then placed on the wrapper, and with some clever folding, the compostable wrap encompasses the butter roll and gives an air-tight seal. Acorn Dairy creates its own products from its low-carbon, organic farm in Archdeacon Newton, near Darlington. At a time when everyone is hoping to reduce their individual footprint, it is wonderful to be recommended by ethical and sustainable bodies.” Today, the Acorn Dairy team comprises both family members and other professionals including herdsmen, milk processors, a delivery team and our front line office team. She added: “It is no surprise that if we feed the best, organic forage with clover & herbs to our Dairy Shorthorns, the cream in their milk will churn to fantastic butter. In 1998, as public awareness of the quality and traceability of the food we eat became more vocal, we decided to convert Garthorne Farm (360 acres) at Archdeacon Newton to Soil Association organic status. Whether you want doorstep deliveries of our fresh organic dairy products, would like to find out more about our wonderful dairy herd, or discover why we believe organic is so important, you'll find all the information you need right here. Doorstep Delivery

Bird boxes have a 90 per cent occupancy rate and the 16 acre reversion meadow is a haven for a variety of species of local and visiting birds, including skylarks, sparrowhawks, herons, curlews and kestrels, while miles of hedgerows provide safe passage and homes for countless creatures. Since then the family with the support from a fantastic team around them, have revived the tradition of doorstep to local towns and villages as well as wholesale delivery across the North of England, with organic milk and cream and other complementary produce from Acorn Dairy. New London Light is flash-pasteurised (heated to about 85°C for 30 seconds) ‘to make sure that the liquid is completely pure without any impairment to the flavour’. This means that bottles can keep for six months after opening. The Tweddle family has been farming at Archdeacon Newton, near Darlington, since 1928 and today, four generations later, we are still heavily involved in dairy farming. You could say it’s in our blood!Compassion for animals extends to the farm as a whole and Acorn Dairy has created a thriving wetland for flora and fauna, birds and small mammals. The increasing use of pesticides, antibiotic residue awareness, cow welfare and the ‘horsemeat-gate’ scandal have all led to greater demand than ever for the Acorn Dairy range of organic products. Today, consumers across a wide part of the UK can benefit from doorstep deliveries, thanks to our network of distributors. Acorn Dairy products are also available direct from the following regional retail & organic home delivery providers:

Graham said the wetlands at Bogglehole were planted with varieties to provide plenty of food for birds in the winter. The vegetation grew to a height of 3.5ft before toppling over when it provided shelter for small mammals. Hedges were left until March before being cut. The family business, run by directors Caroline Bell and her brother Graham Tweddle, has been farming since 1928 and converted to organic status in 1998.The dairy was ranked 4 th out of a total of 50 butters, plant spreads and margarines, a result Caroline attributes to the firm’s commitment to organic standards on its farms in Yorkshire and Durham, and getting food from field to fridge in the best way possible for the environment, land and animals. With temperatures thinking about rising, we are looking forward to ‘turn out’. Acorn Dairy milk customers may have seen video of this spectacle here at the farm, from previous years. It is a highlight every year for cows and carers alike. Our organic cows simply love the feel of grass under foot and the opportunity to graze, after the cold winter months housed in their sheds. The milk we bottle for you will come from cows who have never received antibiotic treatments. Antibiotics are only used when necessary and if this is the case, the cow’s milk is withdrawn from customer consumption entirely and will be fed to our calves. This ‘zero antibiotic’ status was achieved in 2020. Antibiotic resistance is a growing concern for all and this farming standard at Acorn Dairy reassures our customers, who are choose our milk, because they feel it is healthier for them. Customers Denise and Ricard Rudkin, of Darlington, said the visit had been a very positive experience. By offering Acorn’s quality products, customers have remained loyal to Organic Dales. The milk is a favourite of many of Leeds’ top cafés due to its great taste and ability to froth, while the butter is an essential cooking and baking ingredient in any kitchen. All in all, it is a pleasure to endorse and supply produce from an award-winning organic dairy in the North!”
