Advantage is a topical spot-on flea treatment designed to kill fleas on cats, dogs, rabbits and ferrets within 24 hours. The active ingredient in Advantage products is Imidacloprid, an insect neurotoxin that works by interfering with transmission in the flea's nervous system, causing paralysis and, ultimately, death. Re-infestation from flea larvae in the environment may continue to occur for six weeks or longer after the initial treatment.
