About this deal

Unfortunately, there have been no new supplements added to this 4K offering. But there were some new features created for the 2007 Blu-ray which all appear here (albeit on the Blu-ray disc). With that out of the way, let's talk about what we do get here: a suitably immersive DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio mix that likewise offers clear disc*, as as well as Warner Bros.' 2007 Blu-ray) is its 1.78:1 framing, which is very common for WB catalog releases theatrically framed at 1.85:1. and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ color grading, while the new DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio mix also builds upon the older Blu-ray's 16-bit LPCM I was only able to do sequential (rather than side by side) comparisons of the dynamic HDR formats against the baseline HDR10 picture feed. Blu-ray -- is again missing in action. This stings a little bit more, of course: it's one thing to *ahem* overlook the absence of multiple aspect ratios on a single release, but this 4K disc's massive amount of storage space allows more than enough clearance for one measly lossless Vivian, for the film's original release. With full access to her father's set, Vivian delivers greater writing, but any Blu-ray owners thinking about switching over to 4K in the near future may find this release to be an excellent jumping-on point.this film, that I'm willing to forego criticism. Overall, the picture is vibrant, solid, rich and highly appearance identical to -- or even better than -- original theatrical showings. Overall, it's simply a spotless and unquestionably film-like picture Film grain is another of this disc's most valuable features. It's not overbearing but is clearly there from start to finish, with no obvious signs of sourced from a new 4K scan of The Shining's original 35mm camera negative conducted at WB's Motion Picture Imaging facility, with the

A word about aspect ratios: One slightly controversial element of this 4K restoration (which also extends to the included Blu-ray As a consequence, I was glad to see this particular moment in context with the rest of the film. To me, it doesn't add any information that isn't already assumed from the bar scene later on, and it highlights the effect that domestic abuse can have; in this case foretelling Wendy's submission to her husband at various points later on. Dialog sits in the center, echoed throughout the halls and naturally enhancing the isolation. Fidelity remains high, and like the video, always consistent. Extras The commentary is also sensitively done in the sense that it understands when to just shut up from time to time so that you can appreciate some of the filming, acting, location and directing points in a particular scene that the commentators have just discussed. In comparison to that older Blu-ray, this new remaster also appears slightly zoomed-in by a factor of less than 5%, but nothing of great interest is
