About this deal

Gameplay continues like this, with each level getting increasingly more difficult as the number of cards increases. If the group completes all the levels successfully, the team wins the game! The team loses the game if they lose all of the Life cards. END OF GAME

Hi Austen, thanks a bunch! I would definitely recommend it. And yes, they are standard size for sleeving, as far as I know!Seems simple, but the catch is that players cannot communicate with each other in any way. No twitches, no secret signals, no communication. Players must focus and synchronise their thinking to determine the right time to play a card. As the game progress and advances to higher levels, players become more harmonised and the right time becomes easier to determine. At least, that's the way the game is described. If you have successfully made it through all of the The Mind levels, you have collectively won the game. You can all take a moment to collectively cheer. Each player receives Mind Cards equal to the round number. So if the player’s current level is the 1st round, everyone receives 1 card each with the game getting increasingly harder as it goes. The Nerd Cantina Show has been a fantastic experience and we thank anyone who has listened, supported, or joined in on the conversations.

At any point during a level, a player can suggest that a throwing star be played - this is signaled by raising a hand. If all the players agree, the throwing star is deployed and each player discards the lowest card in their hand by placing it face up to one side. From the available cards, separate out the bunnies and throwing stars. Deal out 1 throwing star and bunnies equal to the number of players. Simply say "stop" to interrupt play - everyone places a hand on the table - refocus - remove hands - and the game goes on! A minor note: this is definitely a game you’ll want to consider sleeving. Constant shuffling will lead to scuffs or marks on cards, especially identifiable or noticeable ones, which can ruin some of the experience if someone can tell what someone else has in their hand.Once the lives, shuriken, and cards have been dealt, all players focus. When you’re ready, you place your hand on the table. Once all players have placed their hands on the table, play can commence. No communication is allowed between players. They must simply stare at each other and get in sync, to determine the right time to play a card.

Each player places a card in the center of the table if they think no other player has a lower card. This is very much a light filler game. For the moments when you have 30 minutes to spare at the end of a game night or are hanging out with friends. My first game of The Mind was played on a coach trip on the way to Wales. I have played this in a bar and a hotel room. Minimal space is required and the box is small enough that it can be easily transported. I have even been asked by my non-gaming work colleagues to have a game during our lunch break, as they were intrigued by the game. This is a step by step guide for how to play The Mind the popular cooperative number strategy and communication card game. Additional notions and special rules can be found below the list. These will be referenced for your convenience. It’s fun to try this with different groups. Some groups play fast, some play slow. Some groups have a bit of awkward laughter as they’re getting ready to make a big play, some groups sit stone faced. Every group I’ve played with strategies how to use the throwing stars differently. Some groups may not like this — I’m not saying it is for everybody — but it is unique and worth trying, and regardless, you’ll learn a lot about your teammates with The Mind .Sarah plays the 34. Tim and Linus shout "stop". Tim has the 26 in his hand, Linus has the 30. One life is discarded. Tim places his 26 to one side, and Linus does the same with his 30. The team refocuses their concentration and the game continues. The team is given a certain number of lives and throwing stars that are laid out openly on the table. The remaining lives and throwing stars are set aside at the edge of the table. Have you ever wished you could read someone’s mind? Or telepathically communicate with them? You’ll feel like you can do both within the confines of The Mind, a brilliant little card game from Wolfgang Warsch and Pandasaurus Games. If a player puts down a card and another player has a lower card, the gameplay stops immediately. The group then loses a Life for a misplaced card. All cards held by players that are lower than the misplaced card are then set aside and the gameplay continues as normal.
