About this deal

This is not a normal book read for me. I got it for my husband after he heard the author on the Howard Stern show. I will say that this is definitely a book geared for men but if you are an open minded female it is an interesting enough story that of one man’s journey from a total average boy next door struggling to get a date, into a super mac daddy to a man who learned what it meant to really connect with someone else. Very good behind the scenes of the 2088 race. Also, much, much better than the already good HBO based on (one small part of) the book. " — L., 11/12/2012 That being said, the book itself works. I've been trying to find a football book similar in feel to FNL for years and this is the closest I've come. Granted as a YA book, it doesn't quite capture the raw emotion and 3D characters of FNL. The speeches Coach K gave were reminiscent to the Coach Taylor speeches, but since he's not as developed a character, the impact doesn't resonate as much. The best put down to the whole process actually came from Tom Cruise, who Strauss interviewed because unlike a lot of the PUAs, Strauss actually had a pretty decent career, which allowed him to do celebrity interviews for places like Rolling Stone.

For entertainment value, I put it up there with Catch 22.” — The Financial Times As a leader you have to change the experiences, beliefs and actions of your people. As the right experiences foster beliefs, improved beliefs influence actions and focussed actions produce results. You need to get all of your people involved and motivated, changing a culture is a team effort. I read this book mostly because I was out of the country for the primaries and run-up to the election. A fast and easy read (like a tabloid) it was interesting to get a behind the scenes look and it was surprising to see how much of that news actually DID make it out of the US.

The book felt truthful -(scary to a face this truth at times), It was nice to discover I didn't think Neil Stauss was a asshole. I saw his heart! But the most offensive blind spot is how little he seems to comment on the misogynistic nature of the whole affair. When you basically treat women as disposible targets, it's weird not to comment on how objectifying that is. Considering how much he talks about the community turning men into robots, the absence of much discussion of how it teaches them to view women feels like a lost opportunity.a b Ambinder, Marc (January 8, 2010).
