I personally think the authors Ida and Frank had covered the most essential areas in deliverance ministry. Paul speaks here about people who, through yielding to the influence of demons, “depart from their faith”. Obviously they could not depart from their faith unless they had been in the faith. As Christians they had apparently opened themselves up to deceiving demons and consequently turned away from their faith in Christ. This is just a fantasy book about how to scare people into not going to the doctor and to keep sheeple in line. It has passages about how to recognize demons, how to get rid of them, how to keep deliverance, and you’d think it would be bigger with all these kind of hard “facts” about demons. I really wish this were shaped to be some kind of fantasy book because it would make a good tale similar to The Omen. But alas it’s straight out of the satanic panic mid 70’s and aims to be taken seriously. There are stories inside about them “helping” people who have mental issues and everyday problems but choosing to blame it on demons. The question is, with all the advances in medical and psychological sciences, should the Christian church still be teaching Jesus followers to do the same thing? Do demons exist? Is what we read in the New Testament simply an ancient uneducated way of seeing the world, which we have overcome by medical and other advances that have been made since Biblical times? Frank Hammond explains the practical application of the ministry of deliverance, patterned after the ministry of Jesus Christ. He presents information on such topics

This month brings my most unsettling book to write about so far. I feel quite hesitant about it, but as the authors claim it is Biblically trustworthy stuff that teaches how to bring healing – through deliverance in Jesus name – to people in bondage to various kinds of problems, I guess it’s worth a post. Upon arrival we could see and hear a children's party taking place in the dining area but could not... see a member of staff anywhere.

I read some of ‘Pigs in the Parlour’ as a young Christian many years ago. At the time I simply dismissed it as over the top and I felt that the authors were twisting scripture to get their point across. I also had some ‘amateurs’ try casting demons out of me at the time and I was thoroughly put off the whole idea of looking for demons.

well this book was written long time ago @ the start of 21st century public Charismatic deliverance Cant blame them for all but at least its better theology than Bob’s – what your problem with it? Frank Hammond explains the practical application of the ministry of deliverance, patterned after the ministry of Jesus Christ. He presents information on such topics as: I would suggest steering far away from this kind of literature that gives our defeated enemy way too much credit for what can be explained by human depravity. This book doesn’t provide deliverance from anything, for the book itself IS bondage Robert Erwine Was bad breath on the list? Seems like I heard that. How does this rank compared to Rebecca Brown books? Hammond also teaches the doctrine of positive confession, that if we say something negative it “will open the door for the enemy” (35). On this false doctrine, see the book _The Word-Faith Controversy_.I could honestly not recommend this place enough! The hotel itself was clean, cosy and really welcoming. The beds were super comfy and we had coffee, tea and water in the room which was a lovely touch. From the minute we arrived, the staff went... above and beyond for us. The bar staff were helpful and polite, the manager was visible and present and so friendly. There is no doubt that demon deliverance – as practiced by new-convert Chinese – was a key factor in the conversion of the Chinese in the 1800’s.

An easy read, very practical and down to earth look at spiritual/demonic oppression from a christian perspective. The book is written by a couple who has been up to their elbows in REAL spiritual warfare. They share what they've learned, good and bad. It will likely challenge, instruct, inform, uplift, empower, and motivate the reader. these kinds of practises are available to Christians today, called ‘Atonement’ by Derek Prince. If correct, then I feel like churches I have been to have for too many years left out big chunks of teaching on what Jesus did at the cross and what has been made available to us. Would you trust self-appointed exorcists or healers to baptise you, to marry you ? With exorcism, they take advantage of the stress of the situation . Service was amazing throughout, the whole team contributed to our visit which made the experience great! I have read some other stuff on deliverance and am still studying it gradually – all be it in a slightly wary way. There does seem to be some variation in details of the ‘how to do it’ and when and why you do it – oh yes and where to do – it if a place seems to need deliverance rather than a person. Yes, if you’ve heard those old stories of haunted places needing a visit by a priest to clear out a ghost or similar creepy spiritual problem it seems some people are still practising this kind of deliverance – usually calling it exorcism – from what I can gather.Seriously, folks, go get your Bible and just read it instead of wasting your money on something like this. Plain and simply, it’s a false teaching you should avoid like the plague. It broke down all of the fake belief systems and church cliches and gave me real doctrine and scripture to explain deliverance and poke holes in my assumptions. I believed deliverance was something you were forced into and somebody lays you out and demons come out but - NOT SO!!!! So much more goes into it and this book gave me the tools I need in 2019 and this was first written in 1970s like whaaa!?!?! Personally I have read it I think twice. It was one of a set of 5 books which a friend sent me from the UK on request including Derek Princes “They Shall Expel demons..and Rules of Engagement.. PIGS IN THE PARLOR is one of the worst Christian books I have ever read. Hammond teaches that *everyone,* including every Christian, has at least one demon and should seek to be delivered from it (12). In the Gospels, though, no one who had a demon ever approached Jesus and requested deliverance. No one! Loved ones had to bring the demoniacs to Jesus because they had no control over their bodies. The title, Pigs in the Parlor, was referring to Mark 5 in the Bible. It was the story of the demon-possessed man by the tombs who was tormented day and night, crying out and cutting himself. When he saw Jesus, he ran to Him for help. The demons, known as Legion, cried out in fear and asked Jesus to send them into the herd of pigs, rather than to be run out of the area. Mark 5:13 says, “Jesus gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.”

I realized that it is christian after I had read about Jesus Christ, after I had cried out to him because I desperately wanted to become a child of God so that he could protect me from demonic powers, I realized that when Jesus saved me, chased the demons away and gave me a new life and a new Spirit. I realized that when I through the blood of the lamb became a child of the most high God. Curious Pig in the Parlour is rated accordingly in the following categories by Tripadvisor travellers: Frankly, this book terrified me as an impressionable young convert. I was convinced that my own fleshly appetites must be the result of demons inside of me. Then a remarkable thing happened: I began to open the Bible and read for myself what God has to say about the sin nature.

Pigs in the parlor

I won’t go into details of all that Hammond writes as really they model the how to quite simply on Jesus way of doing it – such as this example as referred to above from Mark’s Gospel, Chapter 1: parlor”, in Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary, Springfield, Mass.: G. & C. Merriam, 1913, →OCLC. I don't know what a logical A type personality processor is, it's probably not something that thinks too much. Imagine what her life must have been like before she found clarity in medieval mumbo-jumbo.
