About this deal

If you notice moth larvae on the ceiling, chances are, there is an infestation in one of two places: For Clothes Moth Larvae, it is more likely that you will find damage to your clothing or carpets that suggest you have an infestation. It may be that you have reached for that cashmere sweater that has been in your closet unworn through the summer months and discovered that it has damage in the form of little holes. It may be a carpet that you’ve seen damaged under the couch, which rarely sees the vacuum cleaner and is never walked on. Either way, you may have had or still have an infestation and the larvae are an issue. In doing these routines you should kill Moth eggs, but it can feel at times like dealing with an ‘invisible enemy’. Thoroughness in following these guidelines will give you the best chances of success If you will be carrying out any kind of treatment with fumigation, moth bombs, moth powders, or moths sprays, be sure to keep all children away from affected areas until treatment is completed. For any powders, vacuum any leftovers and allow adequate airflow to penetrate a room after following the application directions. Allow all sprays to dry thoroughly. If fumigating with time-release moth bombs, let each affected room air out completely for a minimum of two hours before letting children re-enter a space. Treatment Timelines and Safety This is a fast acting insecticidal moth spray, which can also kills flies and wasps. Make sure you spray Insectrol Moth Killer into the air and not onto carpets and fabrics.

Fogging and fumigation are generally the same process, except buying moth foggers for your home is more convenient and less expensive than a professional service. There are various types of foggers, ranging from various styles and sizes, but most will come in a can or sealed plastic tub. Since it uses pheromones, you do not have to worry about harsh chemicals or hazards to pets and children. Each trap offers up to 12 weeks of protection against moth infestation. Like other pheromone traps, it does not act as a repellent and may not catch all moths present. Pantry Moth Larvae can be troublesome in the kitchen because they infest dried foodstuffs (rice, flour, cereals, grains, pasta, birdseed, pet food etc) with their faeces, webbing and discarded cocoons. The name 'Fumer' or 'Smoke Bomb' can wrongly put people off fuming their homes. There is a misbelief that smoke will get everywhere and leave the house smelling like a bonfire! However, this is not the case and the facts are here: Although moth larvae can be a real nuisance, killing them isn't necessarily difficult. Here are some things that kill moth larvae:

Many of our customers ask ‘what does Moth Larvae look like?’ - these pictures should identify the destructive pest you are looking for: Therefore, you should remove all pets from a room until treatment has been fully completed. If you are using certain types of aerosol sprays, you can consider treating one room at a time. If you need to treat a closet, shut the closet door after you have finished. Then, if possible, shut the door to the adjoining room as well. Be sure to never touch your eyes, mouth, or face until you have thoroughly washed your hands of possible chemical residues. At Moth Prevention we supply total release aerosol moth foggers within our Clothes Moth Killer Kits, and Carpet Moth Killer Kits, as these have proven safe and effective in the hands of our many DIY customers across the USA. All of our clothes and carpet moth killer kits come supplied with an aerosol moth fogger. How Do Moth Bombs Work? A really important consideration is that larvae will be doing their damage out of season - if you live in a region that has cold winters, you may feel safe in not seeing Clothes Moths or Pantry Moths flying around, but the larvae can live for up to two years before they pupate in warmer weather. That means two years of potential damage to your clothes, carpets or food depending on which species you have (note that Clothes Moths and Carpet Moths are the same species).

However, adult female Clothes Moths and Pantry Moths can be repelled by many scents. Since they navigate using pheromones during mating and egg-laying, many things can deter their behaviours. Indeed, certain herbs like lavender, thyme, cedar, mint, and rosemary can effectively repel and deter adult moths. Residual moth sprays can be incredibly effective for killing moth larvae and eggs. You can also kill moth larvae and eggs using hot soapy water or by freezing them for at least 72 hours.

What to Consider Before you Treat Your Home for Moths

The simple design of the Moth Prevention Powerful Clothes Moth Traps understates how powerful they are at preventing and eliminating clothes moths. The traps feature sheets coated with odorless pheromones that moths find irresistible while remaining safe for you and your family. Open canister(s) and light the fuse on the canister furthest from your exit point first, then light the next fumer and move towards your exit point. Close the door on exit, it is not necessary to seal the door with tape Upstairs: Moth larvae could be crawling down out of an infested area upstairs, through a vent, or through small openings near your joists or second-story subfloor. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 1 oz of fogger per 1,000 cubic feet will work against a moth infestation. That means a 6-8 oz can of moth fogger is suitable for most average-sized homes.

Pantry Moth Larvae have a similar life cycle but the adult Moths look for dried foods to lay their eggs. Although the traps are efficient, they take considerably longer to eliminate the pest problem than a spray. However, pheromone traps are free of pyrethrins, so they are safe around food, pets, and children. We will discuss your pest problem, arrange a survey if necessary, and provide a quote and recommendations

Do you have children or pets in the home? What kinds of animals? Children can be monitored and removed from your home temporarily. Dogs and cats can stay with relatives if needed. However, it can be far more difficult to take animals like fish out of the home. Have a Schedule Set and Timeline Decided At Pest Expert we specialize in both production and supply of premium quality clothes moth killer products enabling professional and also amateur users to carry out a simple and effective clothes moth treatment with the minimum of fuss or expense. Never use more than 1 fogger in a room. A single 6oz fogger is usually enough to cover 25ft by 25ft feet of space. You will need to first find the primary source of the infestation. Moth larvae spend their time looking for food sources. Since your ceiling doesn't offer many of those, chances are, the larvae are coming from somewhere else. Obviously, kill and wipe away any larvae that you see crawling on the ceiling using residual moth-killing sprays. Then, do some detective work and figure out where exactly the primary infestation resides. How to get rid of moth larvae in kitchen spaces:

Place canister(s) spaced out on the floor surface on a heat resistant surface e.g. a plate on top of a sheet of aluminium foil 50cm x 50cm. IMPORTANT: THIS PRODUCT MAY EMIT SOME SPARKS UPON IGNITION. SMOKE ALARMS MAY BE AFFECTED. In the case of Clothes Moths, this could be (and we’ve seen all these situations with our customers!): Due to the need for us to give you the correct information about Health and Safety when using our MothPrevention products, answers to your Health and Safety questions can be found on the following link Moth Treatment Safety FAQs.If you are using powders, be sure to thoroughly vacuum after they have been in place long enough to take effect. If you are using mothballs, positioning sachets, or other similar products, keep them out of reach of young children and pets to avoid ingestion. How to Protect Yourself During Moth Treatment If the original source has been identified and not dealt with through the above process that we strongly recommend, then more work will be required to deal with that issue. Other tell-tale signs of Moth Larvae in clothing or carpets are silky webbing spun by the Moth Larvae, cases after pupation and the adult Moth has flown in search of a mate to perpetuate the life cycle, or partly eaten fibres.
