Langs Mango and Ginger Rum is described as having notes of mango coulis, meringue and vanilla on the nose, while the palate brings mango, peach, lime and crystallised ginger. The rum is recommended served neat, over ice, or mixed with pineapple juice. Now, Ian Macleod Distillers has revived the Langs brand with its own take on the banana bottling. The new expression is a blend of unaged and ex-Bourbon American white oak cask aged Jamaican rums. It has been distilled in both pot and column stills and infused with natural fruit flavour. Banana rum is a light rum that benefits from the sweet tropical flavor of banana. I prefer Kenny Chesney’s brand, Blue Chair Bay, for my liquor cabinet because it also contains toasted coconut and spices for a well-rounded flavor that’ll send your taste buds right to the beach.
