The Emma pillow is made from highly durable foams meaning it retains its shape throughout the night and over time. Easy to keep clean When we tested the Emma Premium Microfibre pillow it was in the dark, cold days of December. Having a pillow that kept our temperature down didn't seem super important, and we were also initially dubious at how well the pillow could actually regulate temperature, with that polyester cover and synthetic filling. Many of the high-end pillows featured here are washable with attractive designs that make them feel like they should be on show, which raises the question: do you really need to put a pillowcase on them? The cover and two inserts have been stuffed with filling to provide as much support as possible. If there's too much support, then you can remove one of the two inserts to adjust the feel so it's more to your liking. Although the idea of a height-adjustable pillow isn't a world-first, this is certainly one of the most straightforward designs. The Simba Hybrid pillow, for example, is filled with nano-cubes (little chunks of foam) which can be removed to adjust the height, which can get a bit messy. The name Emma gave to this filling is AeroSoft, and from what we've seen – it's appropriate. The material feels very soft, cool and breathable. It doesn't matter whether you use one or both inner pillows; the pillow stays as soft as a cloud! Also, this prevents the microfibre from clumping after it's been machine washed, which is extremely important if you don't want to end up with a lumpy pillow, and we assume you don't. Soft-touch finish Like its Original counterpart, the Premium Microfibre pillow offers full adjustability with two interchangeable microfibre layers. I found that two pillows inside were about right; removing one would make the Emma Premium Microfibre a little too thin, although that’s a personal preference.
