About this deal

Meanwhile, in Fish Jail, Flippy was reading a story to the other fish, recalling the events from " Dog Man: A Tale of Two Kitties". After he was done an officer came and tells Flippy the mayor is on the phone, and the mayor tells Flippy due to Li'l Petey's research in proving Flippy innocent, he is now free. As the officer brings Flippy over to fill out the paperwork, breaking news appears on the TV that happens to be in the fish jail building. In the broadcast, Sarah reports on the Barky McTreeFace Crisis, and the 22 tadpoles controlling it. When asking Chief how it happened, he tries to pin it on Dog Man, but Sarah tells Chief it's his fault, too (due to the fact he told Sarah what could go wrong with Dog Man in charge of collecting the Supa Brain Dots earlier in Chapter 4). In response to this, Chief tells Sarah mistakes were made and he puts Dog Man in charge of fetching those 22 tadpoles, and hence, sends Dog Man out. But Sarah tells Chief to help Dog Man. He agrees but asks who will help him. Sarah and Zuzu look at each other, and Sarah tells Zuzu it's up to them and follows Chief and Dog Man. As Chief this is going to be great, the officer in the fish jail and Flippy look at each other in despair. The Fair Fairy is a long-running children’s TV show where a fairy explains to children how to be fair. But, it turns out that she’s not so good at keeping her temper when dealing with kids when she flips out (again!) on live TV and stomps off to become the newest villain. This combined with a minor mishap with some “supa brain dots” that turn a pond full of tadpoles into flying telekinetic monsters that team up with the Fair Fairy to wreak havoc on the city, and Dog-Man and his friends again have their work cut out for them!

Downward Dog calling the Fair Fairy "dude" might be similar to how Marcie from the Peanuts comic strip calls Peppermint Patty "sir", even though she is actually a girl. In college, Dav met a teacher who encouraged him to write and illustrate for kids. He took her advice and created his first book, World War Won, which won a national competition in 1986. Dav made many other books before being awarded the California Young Reader Medal for Dog Breath (1994) and the Caldecott Honor for The Paperboy (1996).

Hobbies

Molly is a pale green tadpole with mind powers. She looks how the other 21 tadpoles looked before they became frogs. She appears in the following books: It is unknown why she didn't become a frog like her siblings, but it may be because she still has her psychokinetic powers. Dav's stories are semi-autobiographical and explore universal themes that celebrate friendship, empathy, and the triumph of the good-hearted. She appears later in the book, being taught adverbs alongside her siblings. She helps Li'l Petey, 80-HD, and her siblings draw on Munchy and scare him away. She subsequently saves Dog Man, Chief, Sarah, and Zuzu along with Flippy. Chief: Chief is the leader of the city police department. He has a hot temper but, underneath his fiery personality, he cares a lot about his friends.

In Mothering Heights, she gets a new robo-suit called "Mecha Molly", and even has her own theme song with drums provided by Dippy. Meanwhile at town, Sarah, Chief, and Dog Man are in the nets they used to battle the tadpoles, and they're up in the sky, thanks to the tadpoles' psychokinetic powers. But Flippy flies in and cuts them free. Then little petey comes and says ITS SUPA BUDDY TIME!!! If there’s anything Dav Pilkey is a master at, it’s creating chapter books that kids can’t get their hands on fast enough. I tore through the Captain Underpants books as an elementary schooler and, almost 20 years later, am overjoyed that he’s created a series for the next generation of young readers: the Dog Man books.

While Petey's re-evaluated what matters most, Li'l Petey is struggling to find the good in the world.
