About this deal

I wonder if this book Crazy Shot will be released in Kindle format at some point. Beautiful designs that would help me feel fully enabled. Watch out world. 🙂

Something that students often ask me about is how to choose colours for a project. I noticed that in “Crazyshot” your project colours are strikingly beautiful and harmonious. Do you have any tips for those who are nervous combining and choosing colours? Crazyshot is not the first book you’ve published, but it is your first weaving book. What was the inspiration behind the book?

I am a relatively new weaver and have enrolled in your online school which was a gift from my husband. I have taken a few of the classes and am learning so much, thank you. I tend to get fairly obsessive about one craft at a time. I’m passionate about learning as much as possible and experimenting with all the different ways I can express myself with it. Myra has just released a wonderful new weaving book that I am so excited to tell you about – “Crazyshot! Creative Overshot Weaving on the Rigid Heddle Loom”. “Crazyshot” is creative overshot weaving for the rigid heddle with bold patterns and colours. exceptions. Users that break this rule are IP banned for a first offense without warning. ZERO TOLERANCE. I’m excited for this book as it would help me understand the technique better with the help of your videos also.

I am really interested in learning what actually can be done with a rigid heddle loom. I love colour and texture, and I really want to learn how to do it with my small loom. I love the color combos and how this weaving can be so creatively used in so many ways. I think it would be so much fun to amaze my friends when I do these patterns. You may be thinking “this looks way too advanced for me!”, but that is the beauty of it. All you need is the basics, plus a good dose of patience and an adventurous attitude.

Eventually something else strikes my fancy and I abandon the previous one for the latest obsession. Many times I’ve rediscovered my love for a particular craft years after I thought I was done with it. I feel like I have a great toolbox to work with and I love combining ideas from different crafts. I love the look of overshot and the negative space created! On a mission to try as many techiques as possible and this looks amazing I would love to win. Myra Wood is a well known fibre artist with an impressive array of artistic skills and talents. In fact, I’m quite amazed by all her achievements in teaching, writing books and creating. She is a huge inspiration! Not at all! As long as you know the basics; how to warp and do plain weave, the entire technique is explained in detail. It’s actually quite an easy technique since there is no special threading involved. I want to expand my understanding of all that the rigid heddle can do and continue in this art form for the art form and the place of meditation it affords me.My rigid heddle sat neglected while I spent most of my time on my floor loom. I have been asked many times if I was interested in selling it. I couldn’t do that, my husband bought it for me as a Christmas present, However it still sat naked and neglected. Finally I decided enough was enough. I was done with overthinking (talking myself out of projects), I warped up my RH with some handspun and millspun yarn. I am almost finished weaving a lace top/shawl using your garden path scarf directions. I have no idea if it will work out to what I envisioned, but I’m happy that I took the plunge and started weaving on my little loom again. In 2012, I saw my first rigid heddle loom at a trade show and had to have one. I dove right into the deep end buying a 20” with a stand while I was there and all the rigid heddle books I could find. Needless to say, my yarn stash was already a bit ridiculous so when I found out I could use the same yarns I was ready to go. My loom arrived a couple weeks later and it’s been a love affair ever since. I now own 4 rigid heddle looms, all of which are usually warped with some experiment or another.“ To put it plainly, I took some floor loom lessons including overshot, but I have yet to throw on my rigid heddle loom. I have, of course, been watching your work through the years. Rigid heddle weavers looking to go beyond plain weave have a wonderful new resource with CrazyShot!, a new book by Myra Wood. Try this overshot weaving technique with just-beyond-beginner weaving skills.

I love weaving on a variety of looms. But to explore all the possibilities of my rigid heddle looms is my favorite thing. Myra’s technique is absolutely fascinating! I would love to have this book and learn and dive into these colors and patterns. This book is immediately headed to my wishlist! I have been spinning and knitting for a couple of decades and have only recently begun weaving. My only regret is I didn’t start sooner. I’m always looking for a fibery adventure and the overshot technique is calling me. I have some of Myra Wood’s previous books on knitting and crochet and have gained much inspiration from them. After reading your interview with Myra I will be taking your class on Branoe very soon. I was a pretty crafty kid. My mom taught me how to sew and crochet and we made tons of Barbie doll and kid’s clothes. I continued crafting through adulthood, adding new crafts every couple of years- more sewing, quilting, embroidery, tapestry and bead weaving, tatting, you name it, always with an emphasis on creative expression. In 2003 I started teaching knitting classes at a local yarn store and within a couple years I began teaching knitting and crochet on the US national circuit for XRX/Stitches, Vogue Knitting, guilds and special events. Along the way, I taught 5 classes for Craftsy and wrote 3 books and published lots of patterns. Up until Covid, I was traveling around the US almost every month. ( I don’t miss the airports but I do miss seeing everybody in person).“ For knitters and crocheters who are less familiar with weaving, what makes this method so appealing? Can I use my stash yarn?
