The TUF FA506 is the first TUF Gaming series to get a 144 Hz FHD IPS display, similar to what Asus has been using on their ROG lineups in the past. However, slightly raising the laptop from the desk to improve air-intake underneath has a slight impact on the CPU/GPU temperatures, so this laptop could be a prime candidate for a cooling pad. FA506IC - Support - ASUS

This is paired with an Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU. Again, it's not a flagship GPU, but it's a brilliant 1080p performer, making it a great choice for this kind of gaming laptop. It’s one of Nvidia’s more affordable GPUs, but still offers very good performance, including modern ray tracing support, and with 6GB of GDDR6 memory this is a smart choice for a laptop in which costs need to be kept down. Factors that affect battery life include laptop configuration, power settings, and the way it is used. Battery capacity fades with its cycle count and age. As you can see from our benchmarks, the graphically-demanding Metro Exodus runs at 45fps (frames per second) at Ultra. With a bit of tweaking, you’ll get it to play over the magic 60fps mark, while still looking great. Update: I think I figured out what’s going one here. As shown in those pictures above, there’s a heatpipe that goes right next to the main SSD, and that is what’s causing the drive to get hot. I experienced the exact same behavior on the A15 FA506IU we’re currently reviewing, but not on the A17 FA706II, which is the lower-tier GTX 1650TI configuration that doesn’t require that heatpipe. You can also notice that Asus wrapped the SSD in a thermal shield, but that’s not enough to keep it cool, and the high temperatures could lead to potential long-term reliability issues.
