Watching football with the Sports mode, it comes across like an amorphous blob, the fake crowd noise not helping the overall flatness to the point where it’s difficult to decipher everything the commentators are saying. Their voices rarely sit above the crowd noises. It does, at least, refrain from harsh or shrill tones. The 65U8HQ’s connectivity is strong. In particular, two of its four HDMI ports are capable of handling the 4K at 120Hz video signals now supplied by the latest games consoles and premium PC gaming cards. This same HDMI duo can handle VRR gaming too, and support the ALLM switching system whereby the TV can automatically detect whether a console or PC is outputting a video or gaming source and switch in and out of its Gaming mode accordingly. Available in 50-, 55- and 65-inch models, the U7Q has an understated appearance. The bezel around the top and sides is thin, met by a discrete silver trim at the bottom. The chassis is made from plastic, and in terms of depth it’s surprisingly slim. The U-shaped central stand is made from aluminium, but it’s sturdy and supports the set well.
The shape of the stand isn’t conducive to placing a soundbar in front of the unit, unless it’s a compact one.
