Improved the battery door mechanism. Much easier to open and close, especially for people with dexterity issues. The Starry is powered by a single 18650 battery that is removable, a feature not often seen in portable vaporizers, and considered preferable by users. When you’re on the go or don’t have a charger available, you can simply replace an empty one with a fresh one and keep it going. You can now remove the remaining silicone housing and the mouthpiece itself from the top. Clean the silicone housing with warm soapy water and place the mouthpiece and remaining zirconia housing into the ISO dish. I would imagine XMAX suggests cleaning it all with ISO, but I’m not a fan of using ISO on any silicone.

Before we get too far into the review I wanted to point out that there are two different versions of this vaporizer. The original by XMAX with the “Starry” logo on it and then there’s another version with the POTV (planet of the vapes) logo. It’s exactly the same vaporizer just different logos. POTV didn’t like the flashy and bright starry logo and many people complained about it so they made it more inconspicuous.

By now you should be able to tell that I really like the Starry. In general, I’m only this impressed with one or two new vapes or manufacturers a year, and this is the first 2017 release to really do it for me. For dry herbs, I prefer to start a session around 360-380, but the temps on the XMAX Starry run high, so I encourage you to experiment with different temps and see what works best for you. Hermes is one of the best vapes I have ever used, but the heat from his mouthpiece can damage my lips. After adding the water pipe additions my lips stay moist, and I can enjoy Hermes once again.To change from Celsius to Fahrenheit, hold the power button and the bottom temp button at the same time for two seconds.

The hinge tends to get a bit loose (after a year) and makes maintaining a connection through the battery more difficult. Pressing on the base of the vape and holding it is usually enough to fix initial startup problems, and once the hinge begins acting up it behaves best over 330 degrees. I've found it to be well worth the price, with easily handled problems later in its life if you want to hold off on a replacement.
