About this deal

But Orphan X is not your average guest. The last survivor of the off-the-books Orphan programme, Evan was trained to do his government's dirty work. Until he escaped. Now the president has him in her control and offers Evan a deal—eliminate a rich, powerful man she says is too dangerous to live and, in turn, she’ll let Evan survive. But when Evan left the Program he swore to only use his skills against those who really deserve it. Now he has to decide what’s more important—his principles or his life. Well, there’s a lesser-known spa an hour east of Akureyri. We pride ourselves on low crime here, but an enterprise was taking advantage of our goodwill, using us as a transport from the EU to North America. Meth. Significant loads out of Dresden.” The Nowhere Man.’ It’s said that he left the world of spycraft. But he’s still around. In the shadows.” Extremely well written with lots of old time says and terms. Great job of proofreading, this makes a story flow so easily. Fantastic storyline and character development. Definitely one of the best western historical novels I’ve ever read. Maybe even the best.

Not just any glacier, but Langjökull, the behemoth nearest Iceland’s capital. Fifteen hundred meters above sea level, the air was frigid enough that Evan sensed it leaking between his teeth, even within the fireplace-warmed interior of the pop-up bar. Ben Coes, New York Times bestselling author of international espionage thrillers featuring Dewey Andreas He has a secret phone number. Or so the story goes. The number gets passed around, and when you call it, he answers, ‘Can I help you?’”I won this book on Goodreads and was so grateful. What a great, powerful, riveting story told during the civil war. A fantastic storyline as well as having very likeable characters. I couldn't put it down. I was a little confused by the title as the story jumps around a bit between the character who is the last orphan and other characters. Once I read the afterword the title made more sense. That would be my only thing I would say to other readers is the story isn't all about this last orphan, Thomas, and yet it is. The Last Orphan is pulse-pounding, heart-stopping, and thought-provoking. I loved it Meg Gardiner, No. 1 New York Times bestselling author As a crafter of wham-bam action and suspense, leavened with a healthy dose of humour, Hurwitz's abilities are as fine-tuned as ever' DAILY EXPRESS

By now, readers know that Smoak, as a child, was taken from a group home and trained by the government to be an assassin as part of a Top Secret, off-the-books program. Thankfully, Evan had a different handler than the rest of the Orphan operators, one who instilled a set of principles in him, along with ten unique rules to live by. Years later, Evan split from the program, deciding instead to use his lethal set of skills as a vigilante fighting for justice, and the Nowhere Man was born. But that didn’t stop the government from looking for Evan, or him from going after everyone who had anything to do with the Orphan Program. A one-man war was waged, but now, things have changed.Evan leaned forward and flagged the bartender for another shot. As it was being poured in front of him, another of the footballers snatched it from beneath the bottle and slammed it.

One thing becomes clear to the President soon enough: no one should ever try to force Evan's hand. Because putting Orphan X in an impossible spot only makes him more dangerous . . .

If these children could heal, shouldn’t Rosie be able to as well? What made her grief so strong that it kept her from trying again, from learning to live, to really live, and to love once more? Evan is a product of the Orphan program. A child with no parents to care for him, he was trained in weaponry, combat and killing, as well as in how to control his emotions, evade his enemies and survive brutal interrogations. He’s a human weapon, a bit like Jason Bourne, and there’s a character similar to Evan, but on the Russian side, in Cry Wolf by Hans Rosenfeldt. A masterpiece of suspense and thrills . . . Turn off the real world and dive into this amazing start to a new series Associated Press I'm not sure if it was too many characters or the fact that the narrative rapidly switches between them (sometimes in the same chapter), but something about it didn't grip me the way I wanted it to. The narration was decent but verged a little bit on too much telling, and that took me out of it a bit.

The last survivor of the off-the-books programme that raised and trained him, Evan Smoak was sent around the world to do his government's dirty work. Until he escaped. As she struggles to connect with the young girl, Rosie meets one of the adults traveling with the children, Leon Rosenblat. And although they don’t always see eye to eye, as they begin to care for the orphans, Rosie senses a warmth within him, and soon finds herself thinking about his kind smile, dark hair and glittering brown eyes… Evan’s spent years trying to atone for his former life. If taking on the mission means betraying the very principles he now lives by, what does he have left? He admired vodka. Base elements put through a rigorous process, distilled and filtered until the result was transformed into its purest essence.

In a show of aggressive amusement, one of the footballers pounded his fist into the bar, sending a glass ashtray flipping up past Evan’s cheek. It shattered at the ground near his boots.
