Yes, Barbara Davis has written eight novels. The Echo Of Old Books is her eighth book. The Echo Of Old Books – Conclusion

If someone, somewhere, was interested in a subject, no matter how obscure, there was a book about it. And if there was a book about it, someone, somewhere, wanted to read it. Her job was to connect the two, and it was one she took very seriously. She’d” Rare book dealer Ashlyn Greer has a deep love for books that goes well beyond the mere smell of aged paper and leather. There’s something magical about them that only she can sense—the lingering emotions left by their previous owners. It’s as if these books possess an emotional fingerprint that she alone can decipher. She refers to herself as a Yankee, turned Southerner, turned Yankee! When she’s not writing she’s an avid reader, foodie, and lover of music, a football fan, and a devoted Florida Gator. Review: The Dead Take the A Train by Richard Kadrey and Cassandra Khaw – Escape Reality, Read Fiction! on Review: A Season of Monstrous Conceptions by Lina Rather She had learned only recently the power of forgiveness, and had come to understand that the choice to forgive was as much about self-healing as about absolving another of their guilt.” Like people, it is the books with the most scars that have lived the fullest lies. Faded, creased, dusty, broken. These have the best stories to tell, the wisest counsel to offer.” After dedicating twelve years to the jewelry business, Barbara Davis said goodbye to the corporate world and decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a writer.

These two books are obviously meant to go together and the more she reads the more she finds a love story full of betrayal, regrets, misunderstandings, greed, jealousy and family secrets. This story was so cleverly written. I absolutely loved the way the love story, which is what this really is, was told through the two old books found by one of the present-day contemporary characters Ashlyn who is the rare book dealer and bookbinder. THE ECHO OF OLD BOOKS has the imaginative, descriptive, pull-you-in writing style Ms. Davis excels at. I loved this book!!! ❤️ I was sold at the cover and title alone! A book about books? With an actual book within the book? Sign me up!! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ Two time lines? Love it!! The present-day story takes place in New Hampshire and Massachusetts in 1984 where the mysterious books are found by Ashlyn. Then the story jumps to 1954 Massachusetts and London where the books were first created. And then finally 1941 New York where the story told in the mysterious books actually took place.Considering this is a book about a bookshop owner, you'd think at least some of the action would take place in a bookshop. You would be wrong. Well, the two main characters (did I mention this is a romance?) do go into a Waldenbooks for a few minutes. He said all truly good writing—fiction or nonfiction—has a heartbeat, a life force that comes from the writer, like an invisible cord connecting them to the reader. Without it, the work is dead on arrival.” Give an Audible Subscription– Audiobooks are just great for people on the go! Even for peeps who aren’t on the go so much. After all, some people just prefer to listen to their books rather than read. Audible subscriptions make the perfect gift for almost everyone on your list. Books are the quietest and most constant friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient teachers. —Charles W. Eliot

Without a reader, a book was a blank slate, an object with no breath or pulse of its own. But once a book became part of someone’s world, it came to life, with a past and a present—and, if properly cared for, a future.”I only recently found author Barbara Davis a few years ago when I read her last novel, The Keeper Of Happy Endings. “Keeper” was the first Barbara Davis book I read, and that one was a keeper for me too! Books were safe. They had plots that followed predictable patterns, beginnings, middles, and endings. Usually happy, though not always. But if something tragic happened in a book, you could just close it and choose a new one, unlike real life, where events often played out without the protagonist’s consent.” Ashlyn Greer owns a rare book store where she both restores and sells rare books. She also has a "gift" where she can feel echoes of feelings from the people who have owned a book previously. This is called psychometry. When she is given two book with no author and no way to tell who wrote them she is intrigued. Even more so when she opens the book and feels strong anguish coming from both books. She has to find out where these books came from and who wrote them. She wants to know the story. This is my first taste of Barbara Davis's writing, and I'm here to tell you- I am SOLD on her talent! And her beautiful imagination, not to mention her artistic way of words to open your mind's eye to see exactly what she wants you to see, to feel, to understand her words that make this a wonderful read!
