In Jungle Book Shonen Mowgli, Louis/Alba and his monkey army are clearly based on the Bandar-log although they are not referred to as such. They also have an alliance with Shere Khan, with Louis/Alba being an informant, but also fear him. After they destroyed Mowgli's hut, they were persuaded to cast off their alliance, which they do, and later act as an independent gang. Gardner, Eriq (September 14, 2012). "Producer Launches Legal War Over New Eco-Terrorist Film Starring Jesse Eisenberg". The Hollywood Reporter . Retrieved July 26, 2013. Original: " Colonel Hathi's March" • " The Bare Necessities" • " I Wan'na Be Like You" • " Trust in Me" • " That's What Friends are For" • " My Own Home"Later on, when Captain Boone (the main villain of the film) and Kitty reach the treasure trove, King Louie and the monkeys watch in horror as Mowgli and Boone engage in a fierce sword fight. The battle ends with Mowgli wounding the evil soldier on the right arm with a dagger. The Bandar-log cheer for Mowgli's next victory and King Louie takes care of the rest by summoning Kaa again. Season Two: " The Ape Who Would Be King" • " Trunks for the Memories/ Kasaba Ball" • " Hathi's Makeover/ Curse of the Magnificent Melon" • " The Five Bananas/ Birthday Snake" • " Old Green Teeth/ The Elephant Who Couldn't Say No" • " Hair Ball/ A Tale of Two Tails" • " Waiting for Baloo/ Tree for Two" • " Nice Tiger/ Sleepless in the Jungle" Abbey's most famous work of fiction, the novel concerns the use of sabotage to protest environmentally damaging activities in the Southwestern United States, and was so influential that the term "monkeywrench," often used as a verb, has come to mean, besides sabotage and damage to machines, any sabotage, activism, law-making, or law-breaking to preserve wilderness, wild spaces and ecosystems.

Questions about what justice is are questions for moral philosophy, not history. Within moral philosophy, it is perfectly acceptable to use examples from the past to explore moral arguments, but using an episode from history as a context for asking questions is not necessarily history. Any more than, to borrow an example from history teacher Michael Fordham, asking “How did Krakatoa erupt in 1883?” is a historical question rather than a geographical one. Historical questions are usually something like this:Slovic, Scott. "Aestheticism and Awareness: The Psychology of Edward Abbey's The Monkey Wrench Gang." CEA Critic 55.3 (1993): 54–68. Tangled: Rapunzel • Flynn Rider • Stabbington Brothers • Pub Thugs • Attila • Vlad • Big Nose • Hook Hand • Ulf • Shorty • Pascal • Maximus • Mother Gothel • The King • The Queen • Captain of the Guards • Warthog • The Lantern Rightly repudiating all this, Lear writes about how his school has developed a curriculum that promotes creativity with rigour. His approach has five stages, starting first with setting out the skills progression, then moving to determining procedural knowledge, and then to an inquiry question. Consideration of authentic outcomes and audience comes next, with enabling pupils to critique their own and others work rounding off the process. Teaching the discipline of history is an important induction into the ethical intellectual conventions around a particular inquiry into truth. It is not part of the discipline of history to start judging 13th-century kings, caliphs and peasants using criteria from the present day. Historians call that sort of erroneous thinking presentism. Apart from anything else, so much of went on in the past is obviously unfair by present-day standards, there is a danger to reducing the subject to tutting and gloating from our superior standpoint. This is dangerous. If history becomes reduced to asking questions about whether X was right/moral/fair, we leave the door open to pernicious views on morality too. Indeed, this is exactly what fascist and communist regimes do; ignore the ethical demands of historical disciplinary knowledge and insert their preferred view of morality instead.

Monkey Mind: Overcome anxiety, increase How to Master Your Monkey Mind: Overcome anxiety, increase

For the gang, the enemy is those who would develop the American Southwest—despoiling the land, befouling the air, and destroying nature and the sacred purity of Abbey's desert world. Their greatest hatred is focused on the Glen Canyon Dam, a monolithic edifice of concrete that the monkey-wrenchers seek to destroy because it dams a beautiful wild river. The Bandar-Log are also seen in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle. Like in the anime, they are in league with Shere Khan. The Bandar-log kidnap Mowgli following his hunting exercise on Tabaqui's command so Shere Khan could kill him, but are thwarted by Bagheera, Baloo, and Kaa. Creative thinking, active learning and curiosity are enabled, not thwarted by knowledge. Lear sort of accepts that, yet the book seems conflicted, advocating knowledge and explicit teaching in some chapters only and pupil-led discovery in others. Yet for all its flaws the book got me thinking, sometimes nodding along in agreement, sometimes thinking now that’s a good idea and sometimes shaking my head in exasperated disagreement. I hope he goes on to write another book. Once he’s realised I’m right, of course. Younger versions of the Bandar-log appear briefly in the Jungle Cubs opening, where they antagonized a young Hathi who climbed up a tree after being terrified of a mouse Kaa chased earlier by throwing bananas on him, until they got flung away somewhere by the tree. They also appeared in several episodes including "The Ape Who Would Be King" and "Tree For Two".

The Bandar-log reappear in The Jungle Book 2, this time without their leader Louie who was mentioned to have left the jungle. They are just seen dancing with Baloo, Mowgli, and other animals during the song "W-I-L-D."In Hindi, bandar means "monkey" (although specifically not Langur monkeys, but rather the Rhesus macaque) and log means "people," which translates as "monkey-people." Alice Through the Looking Glass: Alice Kingsleigh • Dormouse • Tweedledee and Tweedledum • Cheshire Cat • Bandersnatch • Bayard • White Queen • March Hare • White Rabbit • Mad Hatter • Absolem • Time • Wilkins • Humpty Dumpty • Red Queen • Borogrove • Frog Delivery Man • Gentleman Fish • Vegetable Soldier • Vegetable Servant • Vegetable Executioner • Armored Chess Piece Lear promotes using enquiry questions explicitly because they can be used to promote curiosity and interest. For example, “Should we accept our place in society?” as an over-arching inquiry question in a project that includes learning about 19th-century Britain through about the Titanic as a microcosm of Edwardian society. It’s not that this over-arching question isn’t worthy of study, it’s that we need to be clear it’s a moral philosophy question, appropriately explored through using the academic resources from that discipline. Nor do we need to fear that learning history by itself is somehow dry and boring and unlikely to engage children or get them thinking. It doesn’t need some juicy moral conundrum to become interesting. It’s interesting already. Jonathan Lear has written an entertaining and thought-provoking book on curriculum design for building knowledge, developing critical thinking and promoting independence. He writes wittily and ruefully about the orthodoxies and obsessions of the past; the bizarre Qualifications and Curriculum Authority Slippers topic, the frantic and quest for coverage of an over-stuffed curriculum, the futility of chasing rapid and sustained progress, how differentiation all too often becomes predestination.
