About this deal

It offers 5 modes with no intensity options: clean, white, sensitive, gum care, and deep clean. Again, most of the modes are pretty meaningless in practice. We would pretty much always default to the clean mode for the best daily cleaning. The deep clean mode is touted by Sonicare, and gives you a 3-minute brushing session instead of the normal 2. Wow! Technical specifications Battery: Rechargeable Battery type: Lithium ION Operating time (full to empty): Up to 2 weeks The 6100 is a step up offering the same 3 mode options as the 5100 but also included 3 intensities for each mode: low, medium and high. Which means you can mix and match modes with intensities, theoretically finding the perfect brushing program for you. It also comes with 2 W2 Optimal White brush heads.

Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean Model 4300 Electric

Unlike the smart brushes we tested, the ProtectiveClean 4300 is designed to clean your teeth, and that is about it. The only additional feature it has is that it offers two intensities. By pushing the power button while it is on, you can switch from high to low or low to high. It will remember which setting you finished brushing with and stay on that intensity. How many of your patients brush too hard with their manual toothbrush? Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean gives patients the assurance they need that a power toothbrush will provide an gentle experience. The battery indicator on this Philips is one thing that could use improvement. As of now, it is a single tiny light at the base of the handle. It will glow steady green when the charge is full, and then start to blink when the battery is at about 60%. The light turns amber when it needs to be charged, and the brush will also beep three times. When the battery completely dies, then it beeps 5 times, and shuts off. We prefer LED battery indicators that show us visually how much life is left. I know that in the past, when I tried to find replacement brush heads for my Sonicare, I just looked in the local electronics store and tried to find the most brush heads for the best price without worrying which ones they were. I was surprised to notice that I had bought Whitening brush heads without even noticing. If you want a good Sonicare toothbrush that will get the job done without breaking the bank, we recommend the ProtectiveClean 4300.

This high-end model also comes with brush matching technology which automatically senses which brush head you have attached and then changes the mode automatically. For example, if you have the W3 (whitening) brush head, the brush will automatically switch to Whitening mode. You can override this option by manually selecting the mode you want. For us, the brush head detection technology is okay, but it isn’t a game changer. We like the look and feel of the brush heads, although the series 3 (which are the newest model) are a bit large for smaller mouths. Simply brush with our Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 for 2 minutes twice a day for increased plaque removal for healthier teeth and gums in just 2 short weeks vs a manual toothbrush. Quadpacer & Smart-timer - Quadpacer alerts you when to move on to each section of your mouth while our Smartimer signals when your total time is up. We really like the look and feel of the C2 Plaque Defence brush head that came equipped with our 4300. Although the series 2 brush heads are the older model, they still do a great job cleaning and are high-quality brush heads. The most current model is the series 3 which are slightly larger and a bit more expensive than series 2.After spending several hours researching the Philips Sonicare product line up, we feel like our brains have gone through a German sausage factory. There is no easy way to describe or define the incredible mish mash of models and variations that there are in the labyrinth that is Sonicare. We’ve spent hundreds of hours figuring out the differences, and still there are small details that are difficult to distinguish between.

Again, we think that most of these additions are unnecessary for a healthy oral care routine, but if you like to have more features and options, and like a more deluxe, premium brush, then maybe this one is for you. DiamondClean Look for the above symbol on replacement brush heads to ensure compatibility with the replacement reminder technology. Another specialized brush head is the Intercare brush head which is more compact than the standard brush heads, and may be more comfortable for people with smaller mouths. They claim that it reaches between teeth and hard to reach areas better than the larger brushes. In our lab test, it took 13 hours to go from a completely empty battery to full, which is better than the manufacturers claim of “up to 24 hours” for a full charge, and about average for all the brushes we tested. Basically, this means that if you plug the brush in and charge it all day, it will be fully charged and ready to go by the time you go to bed. What else does it do? At TestHut, we want to make sure that any products we recommend can do the one job that they are designed to do. In this case, we want to make sure that our toothbrushes can clean your teeth and keep you out of the dentist’s chair for as long as possible. We are happy to report that the 4300 performs this one job better than any of the other competitors. Brush Head Replacement Reminder - Alerts you to replace your brush head when its no longer performing optimally. We hope that our 4300 will last for several years. The warranty is good for two years, and we know that Philips honors their warranty because we had a problem with our DiamondClean Smart model, and they took care of it immediately. Charging is done using the included induction charger which plugs into a wall outlet. One complaint we had for most of these brushes is that the charging cord is a bit short and this one is only 100 cm (40 inches). Electric toothbrush charging test results Battery life for the DiamondClean was better than expected giving us 37 days of battery life which is well-above the advertised 2 weeks. The glass cup which doubles as an induction charger will take almost 18 hours to completely recharge the battery.
