About this deal

Every Sennheiser product not just outperforms every other product in the respective category, it also outlives them. All their models have sold in extremely high numbers, making them one of the most popular music brands across the globe. The HD 599 comes in your standard Sennheiser box. Inside, you’ll find the headphones, two removable cables, a 1/4’’ to 3.5 mm stereo adapter plug, and some nifty literature. Not really sure about other options in Europe, maybe the cheaper DAC-X6 also ( 910mW ). Or if you're willing to wait longer and pay customs:

Sennheiser HD 599 Special Edition, Open Back Headphone, Black

I game a lot of sandbox and FPS and want to have some amount of immersion without the sound being too bass-light or trebly. Also, are the highs on the AD fatiguing? I’m really torn between which headphone to get and want the better all-rounder. I assumed that the 599s were supposed to be more of an "entertaining" headphone, so I thought the comparison to the SR-80 might be closer, but the SR-80 blew them away. I got the HD580 after a rave review in Stereophile, but lost interest after awhile because it was too distant. Then the HD600 and 650 original edition (which was essentially the same as the 600), and while they were nice, they were just too ‘sweet’ or polite etc. – boring I thought. I settled for awhile on a Grado SR325 and a Senn HD565, which were similar in sound, but I’ve never heard the current HD650.

This is my opinion, but if you're planning on keeping for a long time what you're buying, might as well spend a little more and get the better performer, now if you really can't spend/justify spending 70 more, well I can't blame you. Don't give up on your HD600 for gaming just yet. A headphone doesn't need to be 'designed for gaming'. If you read such a thing that is pretty much marketing. The impedance has been set at 50 ohms. This is relatively low in comparison to other headphones in a similar range. This allows you to pair it up with any device, be it a mobile phone, television, or laptop. You will feel the amplification of the sound done to perfection without causing any discomfort to the ears. Marketing people always find interesting statements, don’t they? I do see what they mean though and for a whole lot of people who never experienced decent sound this most likely will be the case. The keywords that come in to mind when listening to the HD599 are smooth, engaging and musical and all that in a very possible way. The HD599 simply sounds smooth and is easy to listen to and it to a lot of ears will sound natural with a lovely warmness. Sennheiser achieved to make the HD599 smooth and detailed at the same time and because of that it will please both the new listener as well as the more experienced one. The H599 is a headphone you can perfectly use for watching movies and for listening to music to, it’s a great all-rounder. If you are able to push your budget out and want your cake and eat it with DSD/MQA etc. with a high performance DAC and Decent Amp combo with multiple connectivity and output options and future flexibility, then the best budget all round option right now would be:

Sennheiser HD599 Headphones - Audio Sanctuary

I'm planning to buy sennheiser HD599 which is around 200 dollars but today I came across sennheiser HD599 special edition which is priced around 100 dollars. After having launched the HD800S and the new HE-1 headphone, Sennheiser decided it was time to update the existing 5XX product line, of which the iconic HD598 is part of. The new HD598 is called the HD599 and that means it’s closer to the HD600, in more ways than you can think. As successor to our popular HD 500 series, the Sennheiser HD 5 model range offers high quality and value in any aspect. Powered by Sennheiser’s proprietary transducer technology including the “Ergonomic acoustic refinement” (E.A.R.) design, which channels the audio signal directly into your ears. Featuring a contemporary design that is both attractive and ergonomic. A real treat for all, who listen to their music with a sense of discovery. So if i like natural sound ( specially for vocal and bass with zero enphasize ), this is not for me, right ? I'm just a bit clueless at which headphone I could give a try as I still want an open headphone (as I can't stand not hearing myself while talking).

Honestly I wonder why these cans aren't more recommended all over the place, these are ridiculously good even at 180€, far better than the 598CS and the classic 598. Even in gaming these are better than the 598 because the soundstage is more precise and more sperical compared to the regular 598 and their tunnel-like soundstage (at least that's what I remember from before I sold the old 598).

HD599? If yes Is there any differences between HD598 and HD599? If yes

I tried them while gaming as well and found the same issue I had with music listening were present there as well. Not clear enough to be a satisfying gaming headset for me. According to the company, this headphone has been designed to give the listener some home theatre level voice quality with many comforts. The large ear cups with soft and replaceable ear pads provide the user with immense comfort and an exceptional sound experience. When it comes to headphones and other music hearing aids, one name shines above all, and that is Sennheiser. Sennheiser has been delivering quality-grade products since 1960 when it first launches the MD421. The company delivers the true sense of German engineering in its products. I have 599 since the beginning of the year and your description on this 599 is very well explained to anyone who is interested in buying. Congratulations Lieven! The most relevant feature of the HD 599 is the technical performance. First off, imaging is very precise and you can notice different layers and air among instruments. On the other hand, soundstage is both wide and deep, better than HD 600 family. This makes the HD 599 a great option to consider for gaming, it's a shame that connecting a mic is not that easy. What motherboard do you have? It may just be Sennheiser's sound signature. I find the vocals to be a bit too veiled, and the overall sound too smooth, but this is of course personal opinion and most people love their 599 Tried 598SR (same as SE) didn't like them sound too flat and unengaging for my taste. Generally prefer closed cans, while opens need to posses immersion from closed ones, otherwise no use for me. My guess is they tweaked 599 to have similar or like MRK1 said even better joyful signature 598Cs, but in an open design. On the other hand I'm a bit concerned, because there are reports changes are minimal and they still sound basically 99% as the old ones, which for me would be bommer... In the end, the HD599 is poorly tuned in the low and lowermid frequencies and that elads to a messy bottom that just doesn't anchor the sound and leaves the higher frequncies colored and weak. Pretty disappointing overall. They are very comfortable and very stylish and are probably a good successor to the 598, but they aren't for me.

I'm going to add a few more details even though nobody seems to care about these cans for some reason. If an even-to-flat sound is your cup of tea, though, you’re better off opting for the slightly more-expensive HD 600 – for a clinical sound, the 600 reigns supreme. When you look at the HD599’s press material you immediately notice this headphone is branded as a top of the line “do-it-all” headphone for watching movies and for listening to music and basically anything that can be done with a headphone. The HD6XX and all the higher end models are marketed as pure audiophile headphones for music listening. Not everyone is looking to satisfy the audiophile in them. Some buy gadgets just for the look they have to offer. The Sennheiser HD599 is absolutely perfect for getting that flex of owning a fancy and expensive-looking headphone. Looks and design Glad to see Sennheiser stepping up their Mid-Fi sound range. I never went beyond the HD595 in the Senn HD59X line as I did not like the sound signature that much. In terms of design they have maintained the same aesthetic, which is quite typical of Sennheiser.Sorry for the late response, but yes I agree with your description. Is it worth trying a HD600 with amp though? I only hear good things about the hd600 and it's in a completely different price class as the hd599, so is this worth considering or are they too similar in sound signature? Once you start using headphones that are like 150 ohm, then that's when I'll consider an AMP/DAC combo.
