About this deal

But when I tell Cole my request, his reaction is not what I expect. He’s furious and over-the-top protective. He won’t touch me, but apparently no one else can either? It doesn’t make any sense. In terms of the side characters, it was alright?? I wasn't really attached to any of them, and there were a lot of unresolved characters/ storylines that sort of annoyed me, but let's move on. And then when they finally had sex, she throw to his face that she loves him and they should had a relationship, and when he said no because it wont work, She just tell him they couldn't be friends anymore! because he broke her heart! And leave the house! ¡Ten minutes after telling him she loved him! Naked! Yes naked!!

This story could have worked for me...i.e. virginal heroine and manwhore hero who've secretly always loved each other... if the heroine wasn't also the pursuer in the book!!! Early on in the story, she's practically begging him to be the one that takes her virginity. I'm so embarrassed for her honestly. What happens when a shy virgin raised in purity culture asks her gorgeous, player best friend to take her V-card?I’ve been in love with Cole Walker since the first day he walked into class and sat beside me. Who could blame me? Six foot five, gor... All we saw was a lot of already existing, unexplainable feelings for each other (they were legitimately already in love with one another when the book started). So there wasn't anywhere to go. And one should certainly never celebrate a heroine who, in the process of trying to prove she wasn't "weak", acts in a toxic manner towards the person she supposedly loves. I understand not wanting to cave to another person's will. I understand wanting to make them earn your love. But when a person is clearly going through hell, and has laid their heart wide open for you, and you know good and well what you want from them, it is not okay for you to make them jump through hoops. My only real complaint is the story pacing feels a little off and the ending is definitely rushed. The giveaway epilogue really needs to be part of the storyline to pull it all together. After reading this book, that’s such a baffling perspective. If you read this book, and walked away with that thought, you didn’t read the book. You just didn’t. And that’s okay. Go read it, you know? I can deal with it not being super spicy as long as the story is good. Unfortunately... these two protagonists like the sound of their own voices more than I did. And similarly, with the h and her arc, the story started off at a point where she wanted to break out of that 'purity' mindset- but we didn't get to see ANY of the initial thought processes behind it, but were rather thrust into 'the big epiphany of her character'- which legitimately took away from the whole concept behind this book? Heroine is a doormat that says she isn’t but in the end is and the hero is a jerk, he says he is overprotective but he actually just wants her in a little cage all for himself, they even say that point a bunch of times in the book to him and many times by the heroine but it just vanishes by the end? I appreciate the twist of mirroring of the male lead with his father. It's nice for him to absorb the fact that he really has been treating the female lead unfairly and been possessive in a way that isn't sexy just unhealthy. The male lead really should go to therapy before pursuing a relationship, but that'd make the book boring.

Purity Series by Skyler Mason - Goodreads

Though I would have expected this on Wattpad, it being a published novel is what perplexes me. But then again, I read it, so what do I really know.

I seriously need to tattoo Skyler Mason’s name (the Author) in my brain because I absolutely despise all of her books and i never realise they are by her until i come to goodreads to complain about them. Just because someone is a virgin and doesn't have any sexual experience doesn't mean they're fragile glass. What I do know is that, as someone who isn’t particularly religious, this book must be the devil incarnate bc it almost sent me to church. I’m not sure even holy water could cleanse the images eternally burned into my dungeon of a mind. Livy has been in love with her best friend Cole for years, but he’s never looked at her that way. So, she decides to ask him to take her V-card with no strings attached. You would think, the whole set-up of them being really good friends and him always being protective but no he is so annoying.

It turns out that Cole, aka the manwhore, is traumatized with some family stuff and is afraid of commitment. So he rejects her offer because he don't want to lose their friendship. I believe my definition of "kinky" and BookTok's definition have a bit of a... difference of opinion. Livvy is the sweetest, most docile character Mason has ever written. She’s strong and resilient, but most importantly she’s becoming herself, which is all anyone ever hopes to accomplish. If you can look past how double standards major man-ho H is and how it is brought up SO SO many times .. then it is okay book. h says to H when they are young, that she would date ONLY christian. And ofc H is ruled out. So they both pine for each other. Over the last year h has second thoughts... and decides she can date a NON christian.

Skylar Mason is a contemporary romance author who specializes in steamy, angst-filled stories that push boundaries. She enjoys exploring the complexities of human relationships, and her books often feature strong, independent heroines and alpha males who are not afraid to show their vulnerable side. Main Characters The author does an excellent job of exploring the complexities of human relationships and the consequences of being raised in purity culture.Skyler is a romance novel reader first and foremost. Her books feature strong heroines who sometimes make their heroes cry, but only because they deserve it. After all, if romance isn’t angsty, is it even worth it? I didn't like the heroine- I hated how she put words into the H's mouth, and always got out of the situation with tears, or just generally making him feel bad? I understand that her character was supposed to find herself, and grow- but I just didn't care enough about her? I couldn't relate to her, and just disliked the majority of her interactions with everyone.
