About this deal

Olympus is somewhat sharper with better details. (However, when I compare the bottom edges of the two frames both are equally blurry.) has OIS, but IIRC olympus pro capture mode will only work with olympus lenses, and I could see myself want to use that for wave action or similar scenarios. i have the 45-150 panny and at 150, either of the 75-300 or 100-300 is sharper at 150. at least my copies are that way. You can compare it for very long, but overall, if we don’t touch the very high end, I think that systems are competitive. Why Olympus 75-300mm F/4.8-6.7 II? Mounted on an 18- Mpix Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH-2 the updated lens achieves a DxOMark Lens Score of 10 points and ranks as one of the best performing micro 4:3 mount telephoto-zoom lenses in our database.

The bokeh of this lens is certainly not unpleasant, thanks to the long focal lengths that you can use. Only around highlights there can be a color difference, as you can see in this image. When you enlarge the image up to 100%, a limited amount of chromatic aberration becomesw visible, as you can cee in this crop. This amount of chromatic aberration can easily be corrected using software. In this chapter, I will explain where Olympus 75-300 can be used in travel photography. The next chapter tells about the very important lens’s limitations. The 100-300 II got a newer focus motor, aperture mechanism, and compatibility with newer IBIS (Dual I.S.2 with Panasonic bodies). So focusing is faster compared to version I and the frame rate is improved. A faster and more accurate AF contributes to sharper pictures. Dual I.S.2 with Panasonic bodies is much more efficient than the IBIS of Olympus cameras at 300mm. The idea comes from target rifles, where the heavier target rifle is easier to shoot accurately, than a lighter sport rifle. The weight of the target rifle helping to dampen out the natural body wobble. I know that the Pana or Oly 100-400mm could be better options, but tbh i don't have the budget for those lenses, i prefer something light/small and 300mm would be more then enaught for my use.

And while Panasonic lenses autofocus as you would expect on OM cameras, they are tuned for Panasonic's own DFD contrast detect AF system – and some notable examples (such as the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7) focus incredibly slowly on non-Panasonic bodies. Overall, we think that OM System lenses are just that bit snappier on OM System cameras. One of my favorite spots, close to my house. I have to shoot along the river, so it cannot be reached with anything else, but long zoomA steep zoom cam then requires more force to turn (leverage is working against you).I wish they would extend the throw to close to 180 degrees, to reduce the cam angle and thus the effort needed to turn the zoom ring. So without further ado (as they say on YouTube), here's our list of the best Olympus / OM System lenses to get right now. Best Olympus ultra-wide-angle zooms
